How to get a payday loan refund

Did your payday loans cost so much when you repaid one you had to keep on borrowing?

You can get a refund of the interest you paid on unaffordable loans.

It’s easy to ask for a payday loan refund using the free template letters here. The letters work if your payday loans were repaid or you still owe money.

The comments below this article have thousands of stories of the refunds people have got using these letters. It is a great place to ask questions!

What are “unaffordable” loans?

Was a loan affordable just because you repaid it?

No! If paying a loan left you so broke you had to borrow again – from the same lender or a different one – it was unaffordable!

The regulator says:

“the borrower should be able to make the required repayments without undue difficulty, whilst continuing to meet other debt repayment obligations and reasonable regular outgoings.”

That means a payday loan is only affordable if you repaid it on time and you could still manage to pay your other bills and debts.

Payday loans are meant to solve a short-term problem. If you kept repaying one then getting another loan soon after, the lender should have stopped lending to you.

If the loan was small and it was the first loan or second loan from a lender,  the lender may not have realised the loan was unaffordable for you. But it was irresponsible lending to just carry on giving you more loans.

Many lenders ignore obvious signs of problems such as your loans increasing in size, or borrowing again soon after repayment.Payday Loan Refunds in 2019 from all UK payday lenders

How much compensation can you get?

You don’t have to calculate this. Just ask for a refund from the lender and see what you are offered. This is simple and it works well.

The Financial Ombudsman has seen tens of thousands of payday loan affordability complaints.

A typical decision by the Ombudsman is that the payday lender should refund all the interest you paid interest after the third, fourth or fifth loan.

But if your first loan was large, or was rolled over several times you could get a refund from just one loan.

Which lenders can you get refunds from?

You can complain to lenders that are still in business, even if they are no longer lending. These include:

Lending Stream, Cash Converters, CashASAP, Drafty, Dot Dot, Fast Loan Uk, Fernovo, Fund Ourselves, Kabayan, LoanPig, Mr Lender, Moneyboat, MyKredit, My Finance Club, QuidMarket, Savvy, The Money Platform, WageMe, Wizzcash,

See this email list for payday lenders for a longer list and all the contact details to use.

If the lender has gone into administration, including CashForUNow, Piggybank, Ferratum, Oakam:

  • make a claim to the administrators  – there is normally a simple form for you to complete, see the lender’s website for details – but there will be a time limit for doing this.
  • you may not get much cash back but this is very easy to do. A balance may be reduced or cleared even if there is no cash to distribute. And if you win the complaint any negative marks on your credit record will be removed.

It is probably too late to make claims to other lenders who gave up years ago, see this list.

For longer-term loans there are better template letters to use on other pages:

  • doorstep lenders and guarantor lenders,
  • Loans2Go – the worst loans in Britain!
  • 118 Money, Everyday lonas, Likely Loans/Finio, Reevo, Bamboo, car finance, bank loans and other long-term loans.

Do this before, before you send in a complaint

Doing these things now will make your life easier later.

Get a copy of your TransUnion statutory credit report and keep it. After complaints are started, sometimes loans are deleted and you may want the full report if you later have to go to the Ombudsman.

If you still owe money to the lender, read Will an affordability claim hurt my credit record, and other questions. These looks at your options for stopping paying, the effect on your credit record etc.

If the rest of your finances are difficult, look into a Debt Management Plan (DMP) where you make one affordable payment a month to StepChange. This gets you into a safe financial position as these affordability complaints can take a long time to go through at the Ombudsman. Winning a complaint then speeds up the DMP.

Unless you can afford to make this month’s payment without borrowing again, cancel the CPA to the lender at your bank. Otherwise the lender may take the money and you will be in a mess.

If your loan was sold to a debt collector you complain to the original lender. But also tell the debt collector that you are disputing the debt. It is a good idea to carry on making payments to the debt collector if they are affordable.

Start your complaint & get loan details

Find the lender’s email address for complaints from this list.

Put “AFFORDABILITY COMPLAINT” as the subject of your email:

I am making an affordability complaint to you about irresponsible lending.

You should never have given me these unaffordable loans. Paying you each month left me with too little money so I had to keep borrowing to get through the next month.

You should have realised from the number of times I borrowed that my debt problems were getting worse. It was not responsible to continue to lend to me. [Add more details eg how often you borrowed or rolled loans if you know them, how the amount borrowed generally went up etc]

[Include/change this if your credit record would have shown big problems:] My credit reports would have shown all my other debts and problems including late payments/defaults /CCJs/debt management.]

I am asking you to refund the interest and any charges I paid, plus statutory interest, and to delete any negative information from my credit record.

[delete this sentence if you know what all your loans were.] I know the difficulties your loans have caused me but I no longer have all the loan details. Please send me a list, showing for each loan when it was taken out, how much interest and charges you added, and what I repaid. This will enable me to assess any refund you offer me.

[delete this sentence if none of your loans were sold.]If a loan was later sold to a debt collector, please inform me of the date of sale and the name of the debt collector.

Some ways to improve this

Add any other points that help you describe what happened to you. You don’t need to list the loans – the lenders knows them.

Some examples:

  • “I took out another loan with xxxx to pay you.”
  • “Sometimes I borrowed to pay the rent and then had to top-up to get money for food.”
  • if you weren’t treated fairly while you were borrowing or when you could not make a payment, add a bit about this.

You can attach bank statements if you like, This is a good idea as these show how unaffordable the loans were for you. If you have gambling showing, this helps your complaint, it doesn’t harm it.

I don’t know if many lenders actually read what you send them. I

it’s easy to make these complaints – you don’t need to calculate what refund you should get or quote laws.

Only one loan?

The template refers to multiple loans because that is what normally happens with payday lenders.

When you only had one loan and it was large, read Refunds from large loans and use the template there.

If you only had one loan and it was small, this is going to be a very difficult complaint to win. If you have borrowed once or twice from 5 leaders, that is much more difficult to win an affordability complaint than having 4 or 5 loans from two lenders.

Waiting for a reply from the lender

This email starts your affordability complaint.

They may send the list of loans first and later respond to your complaint. So don’t be surprised if you get sent info on the loans but nothing about your request for a refund.

When you get your loan information, you can send in more details about your complaint if you want. You don’t have to do this, your complaint has already begun and the lender has to reply.

The lender should reply to your complaint within 8 weeks from when you send the email, not when they acknowledge it. Make a note in your diary for 8 weeks time and chase the lender up if you don’t get a reply.

Don’t be surprised if you have to wait until the end of the 8 weeks to get response – this is common.

Send your bank statements or other information?

Some lenders ask you to send them a copy of your credit record, payslips or bank statements.

Credit record – the lender can check your credit record themselves if they want. But you should download a copy of your credit record asap as the Ombudsman will ask for it. Don’t put this off, the sooner you get a report downloaded, the further back it goes which is good.

Don’t send payslips.

It is a good idea to send bank statements. But think twice about the cost of copying and postage if there are a lot. Some lenders seem to ignore them if you do send them.

Again this is a good point to get those bank statements even if you do not want to send them as they will help an Ombudsman claim a lot. You can get them going back at least 6 years even if the account has been closed.

Lender says No or makes a poor offer

If the lender rejects your complaint or offers you a small amount, don’t be depressed. You may still have a very good case!

It is easy and free to send your case to the Financial Ombudsman where many thousands of people have won their payday loan complaints, despite being rejected by the lender.

Give up?

Some lenders try to make your case sound bad when it isn’t. People have had large amounts refunded after a complete rejection!

Just ignore any of the following comments, they do not mean you have a weak case:

  • they relied on your loan applications and you didn’t give accurate facts – see Lender says I lied for more about this;
  • you repaid some loans early  – this doesn’t prove the loans were affordable, just that you were trying to save interest;
  • your borrowing didn’t go up every time – irrelevant, what matters is that you kept borrowing;
  • you had a good enough credit score or they didn’t legally have to check your credit record – if you only had one or two small loans that is true. But if the loans were large or you kept borrowing, they should have looked more closely;
  • some loans are over 6 years old – the Ombudsman will look at these even if the lender says they won’t!

A good enough case to go to the Ombudsman?

If you don’t know what to do, ask in the comments below this article. Accepting an offer settles your whole complaint – you can’t change your mind later.

Don’t worry that you will lose a small offer by going to the Ombudsman – this doesn’t happen.

Some points to think about:

  • if you are offered a refund on only a few loans, don’t accept it if you think the lender should have realised a lot of the other loans were unaffordable;
  • an offer to write off your current balance may sound convenient … but it may be very poor if you should get a refund as well;
  • if getting defaults or late payments removed from your credit record is important to you, are you happy with what the lender is proposing to do? Don’t assume your credit record will be cleared if the lender didn’t mention this.

One or two loan cases are hard to win at the Ombudsman. It’s probably best to give up on one or two loan cases unless:

  • the loan was large. Here is one single loan case that was won even though it was an instalment loan and the borrower had a good income. And another single loan case for a loan of £1,000. You can win cases for smaller amounts if the repayment would have been a large amount of your income; or
  • you still owe money.

Don’t delay too long  – there is a 6-month time limit after a lender rejects your complaint to send the case to the ombudsman. When you aren’t sure, send the complaint to FOS. This is free and easy to do – let FOS make the decision.

How to send a complaint to FOS

Put in a separate complaint about each lender.

Don’t wait until all your lenders have replied before sending the first one to the Ombudsman!

FOS’s “complain online” option is easy and takes you through your complaint step by step.

You can just copy what you said in your complaint to the lender. You can add more details, for example, if you disagree with what the lender replied to you.

If some of your loans were over 6 years ago, tell the Ombudsman when and how you found out about these complaints. For example:

“I knew the loans were causing me difficulty in 2018,  but I thought this was my fault for being bad with money. I didn’t find out that the lender should have checked the loans were affordable until June 2024 when my brother told me about these claims/I saw an advert from a claims company on Facebook/I read an article about these claims” – change this so it is right for your case!

Things to attach:

  1. the reply you have had from the lender.
  2. bank statements if you have them. Ideally from 3 months before your first loan until the last loan was repaid or you defaulted on it. This strengthens your case, showing how unaffordable the loans were. You can still get bank statements even if your account is closed – if you don’t have them, start the process of getting them now, don’t wait until FOS asks for them.
  3. a copy of your TransUnion Statutory credit report
  4. if you dont have the credit agreements, FOS will get them from the lender.

What happens after you have sent a case to FOS

You will normally be contacted within a couple of weeks and asked for a copy of your credit record and your bank statements if you haven’t sent these. If you have sent these on one complaint, then when you complain about a different lender FOS will use the ones they already have.

After this initial contact, your case will wait for the lender to send FOS your case file and then wait to be picked up by an adjudicator who will make a decision on it.

If you are still making payments to the lender, tell the lender you want to reduce these to an affordable amount. This will make waiting for an Ombudsman decision much less stressful for you.

The Financial Ombudsman has a two-stage process. Most cases are settled by the first “adjudicator” stage but about 10% go to the second “Ombudsman” stage.

A few problem cases

Don’t ask for a refund:

  • if you are bankrupt now or have been bankrupt in the past  – any refund would go to the Official Receiver.
  • if you are in an IVA, as refunds will go to your IVA firm not to you. If your IVA has finished the refund may still be sent to your old IVA firm.
  • if you are in a DRO now, getting a refund may mean your DRO is cancelled!

More help

You can ask a question in the comments below – you may get a reply from someone who has been in your exact situation.

Don’t use a claims management company. They are expensive and often incompetent. It’s easy to do this yourself and you can ask questions below and get replies from other readers who have done this.

Are My Jar likely to pay similar to provident 4/5/6% ?
My complaint has been upheld last year and they said that they would refund all interest and charges but then below it states it’ll be significantly smaller.
Hopefully it’s not too long a wait now.

    Thanks

Hi Tina, on the Administrators website it states we should receive between 1 and 2 pence in the pound.
Sara how is the 8% interest calculated is it that we get the full 8% or will that be given it at 1-2 pence for every pound?

Hi Sara I’ve just used ur template and put an affordability claim against safety net credit and I’ve just had a response stating they’ve got 8 weeks to get back to me. Bearing in mind I had to go in to a debt management plan to pay them off and everytime I’d pay them back I had to borrow again so I just really wanted to know what’s the success rate with then as not a lot in the comments regarding them. And further more they had access to my internet banking seeing that’s I was always overdrawn by 3000 the whole time I used them.

SafetyNet have a somewhat mixed record. They sometimes make a good offer but often make a poor one – If they make a poor one they can sometimes be persuaded into increding the offer, so come back here and talk about your offer if you aren’t sure?

In the last quarter, the Ombudsman had an uphold rate of 80% for short-term lending (running account credits) which is their name for this odd sort of credit. SNC is much the biggest provider of this sort of credit so they are losing a high proportion of cases.2running account cr

    Hi Sara,
I have sent affordability complaints to all the companies I used over the years. Fernovo are the first to respond, they have basically said my complaint has not been upheld with a very detailed email. As a gesture of goodwill they have offered £160 and to remove all loans from my credit file if I accept the offer and withdraw the complaint.I don’t really want to drag this out with the ombudsman but I have no idea if this is a good offer or not. I understand you must be busy but any advice would be much appreciated. I can forward their response over to you if that’s possible. Thanks

can you summarise how many loans you had from them, how large they were and how much interest you paid?

Have you downloaded a copy of your credit report to keep that shows these loans – you do not want them to delete loans until you have done this as otherwise with a case that has to go to the ombudsman, you won’t be able to produce a true copy of your credit record including all the Fernovo loans.

Mostly 3 or 4 months. A couple were 5 months. The majority were paid off early. Normally to allow me to pay the final payment and borrow more straight away. The breakdown of loans shows that some of them were paid off early and then I took out a new loan the next day.

    Hi,

Today is the last day of the 8 weeks that safety net credit have to answer my complaint. Still not heard from them yet. Feel like they maybe are deliberately waiting 8 weeks not to give me a result or a knock back to drag the process out. What should I do if I don’t hear back?

I borrowed off them a few years back when finances were bad and I was already in a £1509 bank overdraft then borrowed more money to pay it off but unfortunately borrowed again off them last year up to £1000 and can’t make minimum payments also still have £1500 over draft and bad finances

In that case I think you need to do two things. First send the complaint to the Ombudsman – Drafty should have seen that your finaces had not got better at the point you asked to borrow more money.

Second ask Drafty for a payment arrangement and for them to freeze interest. An Ombudsman complaint can take many months to go through and you need to get yourself into a safe finacial situation while it does.

You should also look at whether you can make an affordabilty complaint about your overdaft, see https://debtcamel.co.uk/get-refund-overdraft/

    Hey,

So I have basically put forward a complaint to Moneyboat for 3 loans over the course of 2 years and bar their threatening response I still sent them my bank statements based on the threads I have read on here. They responded back implying that based on their research they had lended to me responsibly but not only that, if I am “claiming” still that they didn’t lend responsibly and I might have potentially put the incorrect income and expenditure they then threw out the we will need to report me to the fraud agency rubbish. They also tried to mention my first loan was paid early so how could I have not been able to afford it.

Sounds like they have a really weak case and they’re just dishing out threats but just to confirm I am going to the financial ombudsman I just want that clarification from yourself just for that peace of mind that this is the right idea as the term fraud sends shivers down my spine and I don’t want this to be a situation that might have gone left for someone else and I’m unaware.

    thanks sandra

so the first two were like 200-300 around that first date was oct 2020 and the next one was September 2021 then after I paid that off I took one out for £1000 shortly after.

so to be clear I am currently paying off the £1000 one as I only took that out about 2 months ago

It’s unlikely you would get a refund for the first two small loans. But the last loan was so much larger I think they should have looked closely at whether it was affordable.

If you can’t afford the repayments at the moment, you need to ask for a payment arrangement – the FOS case will take a while to go through. Do you have other debt problems as well?

Recently won a case for 118 loans where my interest was removed and now I’m just paying back minimum payments and I complained to Everyday Loans but they settled everything outside of me going to the financial ombudsman.

    Hi,
Just wanted some advise. I had a loan back on 2012 from Minicredit for £200. I defaulted on this and and I believe was sold to OPOS. I have a default on my credit report in the name of Kapama. The default says Opening balance £239 – Current balance £630. I have looked Kapama up and eventually found my details still on OPOS customer portal. OPOS statement is showing the debt went from £200 to over £900 in interest and charges. I did pay some of this through Gregory Pennington but don’t recall paying anything else to them for years. I doubt there is anything I can do by way of complaint about this payday loan as I guess Minicredit have long gone but is there any way I can get the outstanding balance down as I borrowed £200 have already paid £360 yet there is £530 still outstanding.
I’d really like to get this off my credit report.
    Many thanks

This is in the q&a section of Harrison’s/myjar website…..If you do not receive an email by 30 April 2022, but you had previously made a complaint, it should be assumed that your complaint has not been upheld as no Redress is due to you. As indicated above, due to the volume of customers and value of total customer claims, it is simply uneconomic to respond to all customer complaints individually.

Wasn’t sold to debt collector, but marked default on credit file. Below information
        Amount borrowed: £300.00
Length of original loan: 169 days
        Length of extension: 60 days
        Amount repaid: £524.90
On response they have said …
Based on the information provided above we believe we have acted fairly and responsibly. As such we would not be willing to refund any interest.
We would however be willing to remove all negative information regarding the loan from your credit file.

Would this mean the default would be removed?

so it was a single loan of £300? It is very unlikely the ombudsman would agree that was mis-sold.

Yes they are saying that they would remove the default. If you go for this (and it may well be the best you can get) then you MUST make sure you have saved a copy of your crediot record showing the default, incase you are making any other complaints, we=hen you want to be able to show how bad your crecord was with this default still on there.

I see many who have had claims against LS gor a response and outcome within a week or 2.
I complained on 18 April been acknowledged and sent all loans history of which there were 16 over 4 years last in 2013 and one only went to third party. I calculated that I paid back about £7.5k overall including interest!
I know they have up to 8 weeks been 4 so far and seems longer than many have had response from them with outcome
Could it be cause they have so many to look at and think about?? Although I only defaulted on one the last one, there was a lot of repeat borrowing after repaying last etc

We are sorry to hear that you wish to go further with the complaint unless we remove the negative marks on your file, despite the fact that there is no outstanding balance or an active account with us anymore.
We believe that we have treated you fairly and we have done our best to support you during difficult times.
As a gesture of goodwill, we have also waived the missed subscriptions on your account and all we asked was to pay back what was borrowed. Usually, the subscriptions are a non-negotiable part of the agreement.
When you joined SteadyPay, we performed a check as well as an affordability assessment, looking at both your income and outgoings. No flags were raised – your lending was within acceptable limits given your income which we had visibility over.
Please take our previous response as the final one for your complaint.

People don’t know if they are due a redress or they arnt! Just strange as other companies at least write to you to let you know either way. Hi please check your junk files i found this in my junk file if you don’t reply or update your bank details it says you will forfeit the redress
You need to do this by the 5th of june .
I am pleased to inform you that you qualify for Redress. Details of the Redress awarded to you is identified below.

      Loan Number: 2114274
      £ Redress Value
      Redress – Balance Reduction £2.27
      Redress – Unsecured Claim £329.57
      Total Combined Redress £331.84

      Balance Reduction

You do not need to take any action in relation to the reduction in the balance of your loan as this has automatically been applied to your account and no further monies are due from you in respect of your loan(s). We would therefore urge you to cancel any standing orders or other payment methods that you may currently have in place. For the avoidance of doubt, any monies received after receipt of this email and before you may have had an opportunity to cancel any standing orders or other means of payment will be refunded to you.

I received an email yesterday and it likes like they are only paying redress on loans prior to Administration. They included a link for me to input by bank details where the payment would be sent. Below is part of the email I received.

“Until such time as all customer redress claims have been agreed and the final amount of funds available from the Administration determined, we are unable to confirm the precise level of dividend that will be payable in respect of your unsecured claim. Further communication will be provided to you concerning this in the coming weeks, however, please note that due to the volume and value of customer claims any payment will be extremely modest indeed and is likely to be pence in the pound. Please do not therefore take this communication that your unsecured claim will be paid in full”.

Harrisons also stated that they are hoping to have payments made before the end of June. I qualify for redress on 9 loans and the total redress they listed was £945.00. Sounds like a nice amount. However, after investigating further, it looks like payment, as you already stated, is going to be about 1-2p in the pound. I guess £10 or £20 redress is (just about) better than nothing!

Equifax report (not Transunion yet). They didn’t uphold my claim a couple of years ago, only had one loan for £300. Just found an article from last month in The Mirror that said they are refunding a load of customers. Not sure if mine might have been relooked at. Unlikely as only one loan. Have emailed them.

The company you named is a firm of solicitors. I won’t name this sort of firm as I don’t wish to give them any publicity.

I am not aware of any of this sort of complaint succeeding at the moment, so it’s possible they could be exaggerating what you could get…

To point out the obvious, unless you have paid GE Money over 10k in interest there is no chance of you getting that much back.

What was the interest rate? Do you think that loan was affordable? A loan is only affordable if you can repay it and still pay your other debts, bills and normal living expenses, without being left so short you have to borrow more.

Making an affordability complaint may be a much simplere complaint to win, and you wouldn’t have to pay the claim firm their very high fees.

Hi I have just emailed piggy bank this afternoon as I have a claim which was accepted but no payment yet. They have just emailed back saying it’s a lengthly process the administration are aware of your claim and email will be sent when they is a further update. In February this year that was there 14 month in admin she did say it could go beyond 18 months. My jar again awaiting a final amount from are running behind time was supposed to be by 15th may, think emails are going to start next week. However it’s not a good outcome from them I don’t think, there website says between 1-2p in the pound.

    Hi Sara,

Looking for some advice, I had 2 logbook loans from easylogbookloans tv a few years ago one was for £800 I paid back total being just over £1,800, I think the previous loan was more than this possibly £1,800, I can’t find the paperwork for this as yet but even more interest, the company only took a copy of my wage slips and I filled out an expenditure form, I had other loans and debts at the time, I can’t find the company online, do you know if they are still trading and could I make an unaffordability claim against them?
Thank you for all your help and advice on this site 👍

      Try emailing gachet@btconnect.com.
They are not an easy company to deal with but send to the ombudsman.

Hi Sara, I was wondering if you could advise. I submitted a complaint to money boat regarding 5 unaffordable loans I have taken out with them. This is the response I received:

“Having conducted a comprehensive review of all the information, including correspondence we hold on our system, I regret to inform you that I am unable to uphold your complaint on this occasion.
However having taken all your comments and circumstances into consideration, in resolution as a gesture of goodwill I would like to offer to remove all of the interest due on your current loan, thus reducing the outstanding balance from £561.66 to £199.17, in full and final settlement of your complaint. This offer is made without any admission of liability.”

Is this something I should be accepting, or should they be doing more?

    Thank you

Can you list how large each of the loans were in order, eg 200,300,350 etc
Also were there any breaks of more than a month between repaying one loan and taking out the next one?

Thanks so much for your reply. It was £200, £300, £250, £400 then £500. It was less than a month between paying each one off and getting the next loan, mostly within a couple of days / one of them was the same day!

I’ve not managed to pay anything into it yet. I had to contact them to let them know I was struggling and they asked me to send proof of why I was struggling (a £600 oil bill)

    • Sara (Debt Camel) says

      May 19, 2022 at 6:49 pm

That is a bit odd, as they are offering to reduce you balance not to £500 (the amount you borrowed) but to £199. That is effectively getting a refund of £300 for the previous loans…

If you go to the Ombudsman you would very likely have the last loan upheld and may have the 4th loan upheld. The third loan is possible but is less likely.

So you may not get more by going to the Ombudsman.

How many other consumer debts 9loans, credit cards, catalogues, Overdrafts) do you have – what do they add up to?

because oil bills at the moment are horrendous and there is no sign they are goind gto get cheaper. Are you up to date with other important bills?

My last loan with them was £500 which I’ve not been able to pay anything towards, so I only owe £500 plus fees for that one. The rest are all paid off.

I also had loans with quick quid (I’ve received a refund for that), lending stream who also refunded, and have sent complaints following your template for capital one and tappily. It’s so difficult, I’m a senior professional with the nhs but also a single mum and it’s a struggle to make ends meet.

I’m up to date with all other payments aside from my electricity, which is a couple of weeks late. I’m waiting until payday next week for that one!

Do you think I should take their offer and run with it?

However as far as they say, I have an outstanding balance with them of £1900 and have applied a redress of £950 to my account leaving a balance of £950. However the £1900 loan amount was included with a previous DRO. Can they still do that?

It’s from 2018, but I have been paying off what I can but I still owe them. If you calculate all the interest I have already paid them I have theoretically paid back the loan. They’ve offered to reduce the outstanding balance from £2000 to £395 but I would struggle to even pay that. The FO is currently helping me with 2 other payday loan companies so would be able to see my financial situation, should I send to them anyway ? Thanks Sara

What are the rest of your finances like? Your total debts?

This was on the last day of the 8th week.

I tried contacting them on week 7 and basically got told to wait. I have been told up to 2 weeks for the money but most have it in 3 to 4 days.

Once you get the letter you will still need to call and accept the offer even if it is the full amount.

I received another update a month later thanking me for my continued patience while they investigate further. The update stated that they had until May 25th to provide a response which works out as 8 weeks.

I still haven’t had a response. Is it normal for them to leave it until the very last minute before sending you their findings? What’s the next step should they fail to contact me at all?

    Hi,

Cash4u now have upheld my complaint thanks to your guidance on your website(which is brilliant by the way).
May I ask? I had 3 loans with cash4unow. Loan 1 and 2 repaid. Loan 3 is with a debt collector. They’ve agreed to recall loan 3 from debt collector and write off the interest and charges applied, leaving the principlal amount to pay. In addition, they will refund interest and charges pain on loan 1 and 2. However, because of the outstanding balance on loan 3, they will use the interest refund from loan 1 and 2 to offset balance on loan 3. They will also remove the loans from my credit report in their entirety.
My question is, should they be including statutory interest for the interest refund on loan 1 and 2? They said they were unable to offer statutory interest as loan 3 is still outstanding.

    Thank you.

    Kind Regards

Were there gaps between repaying one loan and taking the next?
How large are the refunds from loans 1 and 2?

        Good Morning Sara,

4 days gap between repaying loan 1 and taking out loan 2(Can I also mention i received 3 emails from cash4unow during that 4 day gap, telling me I may qualify for an increased amount). Loan 1 and 2 combined refund is £255. Gap between repaying loan 2 and taking out loan 3 was 2 months, only because I had missed a few re-payment instalments for loan 2 then.
