UPDATE – on 25 October, CasheEuroNet which owns ate QuickQuid, Pounds To Pocket and On Stride brands went into administration.
See QuickQuid goes into administration – what will happen for details. That article will be updated with any more news.
This article will not be kept up to date.
QuickQuid (QQ) and its smaller brand Pounds To Pocket (P2P), which in February 2019 rebranded as On Stride, have been getting large numbers of affordability complaints from customers asking for refunds of interest.
You may be able to get a refund if you had loans from QQ, P2P or On Stride you couldn’t repay without borrowing again. You can get refunds for all type of loans, including instalment and flexi loans.
Summary – QuickQuid complaints
QuickQuid is now the most complained about banking and credit firm in Britain (ignoring PPI), according to Finanical Ombudsman statistics.
At the end of 2018, there were about 9,000 complaints against QQ and PTP with the Ombudsman. Many had been there for two years as QQ had been refusing to give refunds on loans over 6 years old or for loans given after 2015.
In 2019 the Ombudsman started upholding large numbers of these cases. QQ then rejected many of these decisions.
But in August 2019 QQ agreed to pay thousands of outstanding Ombudsman decisions within the next 6 weeks. These are being referred to as “the spreadsheet complaints” as many customers were told by FOS they “were on the spreadsheet“.
How to start a complaint (this no longer applies now QQ is in administration)
The main Payday loan refund article has the template letters to use for making these complaints.
If you had loans from both QuickQuid and Pounds to Pocket, you only need to make one complaint, covering both sets of loans.
If you rolled a loan repeatedly or repaid the loan and soon after took out another one, this suggests the loan was not affordable.
One loan complaints can be hard to win, but if your loan was large, as some of the loans from On Stride are, read Getting a refund for a large bad credit loan which has better template letters for your situation.
A list of your loans is usually enclosed with the response to your complaint.
Has your data been deleted?
This is a new problem. In mid-April 2019, QuickQuid seems to have deleted information about some loans over seven years old from their records. See Why is QuickQuid going to delete old customer data?
This won’t be a problem for you if you have the details of your loans, from your email records or from your bank statements. Here tell QuickQuid you can supply them with a list of your loans so they can consider your case. If they refuse to do this, send it straight to the Financial Ombudsman.
If you don’t have all your records, ask QuickQuid if that is their final response and then send the complaint to the Financial Ombudsman. You can complain not just that you were given unaffordable loans but that QuickQuid has not treated you fairly by deleting your loan data when it should have known from other customers complaints that you may have a good affordability complaint. Ask for compensation for this.
You may feel that without evidence your case is very weak. But you have an excellent case that QQ has treated you unfairly!
If you have closed your bank account, it can still be possible to get old statements but there may be a limit on how far back you can go. So try to do this as soon as possible – don’t wait for several months until the Financial Ombudsman asks you for them as that may mean there are another few months you can’t get.
QuickQuid’s standard response was designed to put you off
QQ uses a template letter to reply to you.
When you read what they have written, you may feel depressed and that you don’t have a good case. That is what QQ want you to believe! But in many cases the checks QQ did were far from adequate and the wording in their replies may mislead you.
Here are some bits from one recent QQ response (in italics) together with my comments on them.
We have assessed loans funded before FCA regulations were implemented using the “other credit commitment” (OCC) value taken from your credit report at the time of funding and used a reliable average for all remaining expenses.
From some published Ombudsman decisions, it seems that QQ hasn’t kept the details of many credit checks it did for loans before 2014, see this decision for example. You won’t win your case just because QQ can’t produce this information, but if you kept borrowing or rolling loans for months then you shouldn’t worry that QQ has some brilliant way of showing they did great checks.
In assessing loans funded after FCA regulations were implemented, we used validated expenses figures. We arrived at those figures by validating your declared expenses for various categories from your loan application against credit reference agency and Office of National Statistics data.
Here QQ usually has kept more records. But they were validating your expenses against some national averages. that may have been fine for the first few loans, but if you kept borrowing, QQ should have wondered if your real expenses were larger than their estimates. So they should have done extra checks on your later loans, not just kept repeating the same checks.
In assessing whether your loan(s) were affordable, we evaluated whether your total repayment across the loan term was sufficiently less than your total estimated disposable income across the loan term, after taking into account your expenses.
They were estimating your income and your expenses, without verifying them.
Also did you have had one of QQ’s “three month loans” where they only charged the interest for the first two months then the whole of the capital repayment plus another months interest in the third month? If you did, QQ assumed you would save up money in the first and second months. But the Ombudsman often doesn’t think this is fair, for example, here is one Ombudsman decision.
We further assessed affordability by viewing your account history for hardship. If we concluded that any of your prior loans were in hardship status, we evaluated whether any subsequent loans were issued without an adequate gap in time in between.
But QQ doesn’t seem to take account of whether you had to roll a loan, ask for a top-up or ask for extra time to repay a loan, even though that is also evidence that you were struggling.
we closely reviewed whether you took out multiple loans in short succession and whether there were negative changes in your individual circumstances such as a decrease in income and/or an increase in “other credit commitments” between said loans. We further analysed dependency by examining whether you had any loan(s) with numerous extensions or rollovers and if so, whether any subsequent loan was funded in close proximity thereafter.
QQ says they “closely review” these, but often they just seem to reject a case even if often you had to roll a loan or borrow again soon after repaying one.
You may feel this letter doesn’t actually reflect your situation at all – and you are probably right! QQ doesn’t explain why they have refused to refund some loans, or why they picked the ones they did.
For several years QQ didn’t add 8% statutory interest to goodwill refunds it offered. But inAugust 2018 sent an unexpected additional refund to some customers who had been affected by this.
QuickQuid cases at the Ombudsman (you can no longer send a QQ case to the ombudsman)
The Ombudsman service is easy to use but has been slow for QQ complaints, but in summer 2019 that seems to be improving as a large number of cases have been decided.
Three things not to worry about:
- you won’t “lose” an offer from QQ if you go to the Financial Ombudsman. So far as I am aware, in every case where someone was offered an amount by QQ the Ombudsman has increased the amount.
- the Ombudsman won’t reject your case because you had a large income or your partner kept bailing you out etc. Lots of people have won these cases. If you kept borrowing then QQ should have realised you were dependent on the loans and stopped lending.
- cases where there was a lot of repeat borrowing and gambling are getting good refunds.
How do they respond to the adjudicator’s decision?
The Adjudicator is the name for the first stage of an Ombudsman complaint. Only 10% of cases have to go to the second stage is when it is looked at by an Ombudsman.
QQ accept have been accepting some adjudicator decisions. But sometimes they offer a lower amount, in which case you have to decide if it’s worth taking that or asking for the case to go to the Ombudsman.
In June one person has just reported being offered c £8,000 by QuickQuid when the adjudicator’s decisions would have been about £9,500 – he decided that was a good enough offer to accept.
Rejecting too many adjudicator decisions
But QQ has been rejecting far too many adjudicator decisions.
The ombudsman could take all these adjudicator decisions through to the second “Ombudsman-level” where a decision is legally binding and QQ have to payout. But that would take a lot of Ombudsman resource to get thousands of cases through at that level. It shouldn’t be needed. the Ombudsman-level is intended for the few difficult cases, not for run-of-the-mill standard decisions.
Both the Ombudsman and QQ’s regulator, the FCA, have been pointing out that the FCA’s rules say a lender has to learn from ombudsman decisions and apply them.
This is why in August QuickQuid agreed to accept several thousand adjudicator decision it had previously rejected.
QQ started to send emails with the refund amounts and asking for people’s bank account details in September.
Good news that QQ is paying out on some FOS decisions but…
I’m very pleased QQ agreed to pay out on these decisions. Not just for those customers getting their refund at long last, but because by removing a large number of complaints from the queue for an ombudsman, I hope a lot of other FOS complaints will move forward faster.
QQ’s American parent, Enova, released its second-quarter earnings figures last month. Overall they were fine, but there were some comments in the Earnings Conference Call about Enova needing to reach a satisfactory resolution with the FCA and FOS about complaints. It’s not clear what they mean by this.
Enova’s third-quarter figures contained the announcement that they would be closing their UK business due to “regulatory uncertainty”.

QuickQuid goes into administration – what will happen
Hazza the jazza says
Hi, I recently had my Wonga claim partly accepted for £15,967, probably get 10-20% back (who knows). I’ve just put a claim in for quick quid and they have asked for payslips and bank statements, so not sure if I can be bothered to provide these, not sure the total amount of qq loans, but had at least £7200 in a 9 month period, over 7 loans, they are the only ones, listed on my account, but I’ve had at least double that.
Was wondering what happens to interest claim if some loans were settled really early.
Also had 118 118 loans constantly for about 6 years and they did that thing where they offer you a new loan during the duration off the current one, then you are well screwed, coz you might get say £2500 of credit but loan then reverts back to 2 years owing £9500!!! Happened a few times. Thanks for all your work Sarah, this is my first post. Good luck everyone
Sara (Debt Camel) says
If you had top ups or an extension of a QQ loan it would only show as “one” which may be why you think you had more. If you have the statements, why not provide them? If some loans were settled early, that doesn’t mean they were “affordable” as you may have then left yourself so short you had to borrow again.
118 isn’t a payday lender but a lot of people are getting good refunds from them, you can use the template on this page for them: https://debtcamel.co.uk/refunds-large-high-cost-loans/
Hazza the jazza says
Ok, thanks Sara, I don’t have bank statements to hand, but would have to get about 6 years worth although the qq account shows I had a flex credit account in 2013, does it matter if I don’t send them my statements, and say I will prepare them for the ombudsman, if we can not find a resolution.
Much of my payday loan woes were down to gambling, which will show on my bank statements, however once you are in this cycle, it’s a vicious circle, being self employed, also you have a week off, don’t get payed then go in for another payday loan,
Sara (Debt Camel) says
It’s fine to say you will supply the bank statements to the Ombudsman. It won’t harm your complaints that your bank statements show gambling.
Hazza the jazza says
Once again thanks Sarah
I will let you know how things go
N says
I had a flex credit account and they said they were refusing it because I only had one loan. The truth is I borrowed over a space of a couple of years constantly paying back the interest. Ombudsman agreed with me quick quid again turned down and they have now accepted. Waiting for settlement amounts from QuickQuid now. I didn’t provide bank statements to ombudsman or QuickQuid
Hazza the jazza says
That’s really helpful cheers n, shows you have to keep plugging away .
Wayne says
Letter dated 7th August from FOS saying that QQ now agree with Ombudsman decision.and I will hear within 6 weeks etc.
Does anybody have a phone number that I can call QuickQuid on? Do you give your QQ ref number or the FOS one?
I’ve sent emails to Enova last week but haven’t had any response.
Thanks.
Matt says
Hi Wayne
They don’t tell you anything over the phone but you can ring if you want on +44 20 3859 2760. Apparently also, they have 72 hours to respond to customer emails not sure if this includes weekends.
I got an offer last week from QQ and Wonga
Taylor says
Hi Matt,
Did they give you a timescale once you got the offer on how long it would take for the deposit to arrive in your bank account?
Wayne says
Thanks Matt.
Did you quote your QQ ref no or the FOS one?
I’ll give them a call if still no response by end of the week
Matt says
Not sure which reference matters, as QQ wanted their customer ID over the phone. When I emailed them, I also quoted the customer id but they replied with the FOS reference
Stacie says
Hi Sara,
Can I just ask, once the redress has been paid, how long should you wait before trying to claim the tax back that they have deducted?
Thanks
Taylor says
Feeling a bit rubbish this morning. I got my letter on the 7th from QQ. Still not heard anything about my offer yet. They’ve got my bank details so did that bit around 2 weeks ago. I’m totally losing faith now after waiting almost 2 years, doesn’t feel like the sight is in end yet. I can imagine it will take another 6 weeks for them to actually pay out once the funds are agreed.
Has anyone actually had their money deposited into their bank account from the ‘spreadsheet’ / letter dated the 7th/8th Aug?
Losing hope!
Sam says
I was not on the spreadsheet, I went through the Financial Ombudsman and then was referred to FOS once I accepted the offer from QQ. I gave my bank details on 2nd August. They have not been great with timescales but I kicked off a bit on Friday and was told they have 6 weeks to deal with the refund. Give it the 6 weeks and then if you still do not hear anything give them a call, they are paying out so think we just need to be patient.
Carl says
Hi Taylor,
I received letter on 7th August and still not heard from QQ / Enova.
Thanks
Carl
Nicola says
I am in the same boat as you. I got my letter on the 7th August and I am still waiting. I updated my bank details and email address with them about 3 weeks ago now. I think a few people on here have had their offers through, not sure if anyone has been refunded yet though?! Hopefully we will hear something soon, fingers crossed!! I hope to hear soon, as I know they will probably then take another month to make the payment.
laura says
Snap…same here. I did receive an email on Friday saying to be patient and somebody will be in contact – easier said than done.
Taylor says
Ughhhh hopefully we all hear soon. I’ve been checking the forum 5/6 times a day to see if folk are starting to get payments. Fingers crossed we see some movement this week!
Nicola says
I feel your pain! Won’t believe it until I see the money in my bank. After 2 years of waiting since my initial complaint I am getting anxious! I worry that they will end up going under like many of the other payday lenders! I have been checking in here daily and my emails to see if my offer has come through. Really hope we all hear something soon. Good luck everyone :-)
Lorraine says
Can I just ask everyone please … when you initially sent your complaint to the FOS, did they acknowledge your letter/email? How long did it take for them to do this?
I had a complaint with several payday companies and have had refusals from them so I forwarded them all to the FOS. To date, I haven’t heard anything at all from them – not even an acknowledgement to say ‘yes we have your complaint about xyz and we will look into it’. Is this normal??
Thanks, all.
Taylor says
Lorraine – when did you send them away to the FOS? Most of mine took several months before I heard anything whatsoever from FOS. Out of everything I raised a couple of years back, I’ve still not seen a single penny. Two of them went bust during my claims and I’m awaiting the settlement figure/pay out from the last one. Fingers crossed you get something soon!
John says
Yes, it has been a very very slow process 25 months and counting with the FOS with QQ. All other payday lenders I made claims against settled quite quickly i.e. less than 6 months and before a FOS decision. I was in early with Wonga and got a full refund before they folded so I have been quite lucky and I had more or less written off the quick quid saga until the 7th Aug letter saying they have agreed to settle but it’s looking more promising now.
Patience and perseverance it the key!
Maria Dickson says
I received an offer from QQ via an adjudicator last week. I have accepted the offer and contacted QQ to confirm my bank details.
I presume this is a different process to the ‘spread sheet’ customers?
Can anyone advise me how long it has taken for payments to be received following acceptance?
My big fear is QQ go bust in the near future and I don’t receive payment.
Zoe says
I believe they’ve got 28 days from now
Richard says
Hi Maria,
I am in the same position as you as I’m not part of the spreadsheet list. Although I accepted QQs offer on the 13th and provided bank details that same week. I had confirmation after from the case handler that payment would have been paid within 3-5 working days but as expected nothing yet to be received. I have repeatedly chased but no answer to calls or emails for over a week.
I have the same fear that they are going to go in the same direction at TMS and Wonga as they’ve gone all silent on me.
Hope that helps and good luck.
Taylor says
Doesn’t look good for us all. Nobody seems to be getting paid or provided with a payment date. :(
Zoe says
Someone on here did say they got a payout last week.
MrsW says
Hey I accepted an offer through FOS in the 15th August and got refunded by QQ on the 20th August. Took just 5 days.
Abi says
Hi Maria,
I’m in the same position as you.
Offer received and accepted same day last week. Rang QQ same day to confirm bank details. Email from Enova today to clarify bank details. No timescales provided.
Fingers crossed we get paid soon.
Craig Benn says
Possibly no timescales, or response as they are about to go into liquidation or pull out the UK, as they dont seem to be having any payday loan claims in the US, so as much as it kills me to say it, as i too have a claim in against QQ, will save them money to go bust in the UK
Abi says
MrsW,
That’s useful to know – what cost range was your refund in? I wonder whether the higher value refunds are taking longer internally due to size and process…mine is less than £2K so hoping its quick.
MrsW says
Mine was about £900 I think. :)
Maria says
Thanks for replies.
Richard I wondered would the adjudicator / ombudsman intervene again?
Kim Eyres says
I complained to FOS on 12th October last year. Was assigned to an adjudicated on 23rd August 2019. I’ve spoken with him three times on the phone (he’s called me each time). He has said could take 90 days to reach a recommendation so I wait patiently. Borrowed between 2012 and 2017 and paid over £8k in interest and late payment fees. QQ original response to my complaint offered £756. I’ve applied their reasoning for the offer (one loan) as the basis of my complaint for all the others. I’m hopeful of a good payout and thanks to people in this thread am happy to just wait.
Craig Benn says
First Quarter 2019 Summary
Total revenue of $293 million in the first quarter of 2019 increased 15% from $254 million in the first quarter of 2018.
Gross profit margin was 52.6% in the first quarter of 2019, compared to 57.3% in the first quarter of 2018.
Net income of $35 million, or $1.02 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2019 increased from $28 million, or $0.81 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2018.
First quarter 2019 adjusted EBITDA of $75 million, a non-GAAP measure, increased from $68 million in the first quarter of 2018.
Adjusted earnings of $40 million, or $1.16 per diluted share, a non-GAAP measure, in the first quarter of 2019 increased from adjusted earnings of $35 million, or $1.02 per diluted share, in the first quarter of 2018
Sara (Debt Camel) says
What are you arguing here?
Craig Benn says
Not, i did a google check and appears Enovas summary for 2019, is that they are doing very well
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Oh yes. There were some grumblings on the earnings conference call about needing to resolve the UK complaints issue, but the parent company is doing well from a shareholder point of view and like the way in the UK their OnStride product is positioned. I’m not sure why they would agree with FOS to settle several thousand complaints at what the adjudicator had ruled if they aren’t trying to put it behind them and move on? I don’t think the FCA would contemplate a Scheme of Arrangement that would allow QQ to continue in business.
Zoe says
Perhaps it’s not so bleak then? The comments about QQ potentially being on the brink of liquidation is a cause concern, I certainly was worried reading these.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Well I was concerned by the earnings call, but they do seem to be planning to pay out these complaints and if they were just about to go under, it’s hard to see why their accountants would think this was a good idea.
laura says
Well, now coming into the 2 week countdown. Fingers crossed some of us Spreadsheet peeps will hear something today. I’ll post as soon as I do as I think we need some positive news to give all hope :-)
Katie says
Hi, the ombudsman has upheld two of my loans with QuickQuid and one with pounds to pocket. I’m not expecting a big refund however I still had an outstanding balance with pounds to pocket that has been on hold until the outcome of this complaint. Will the refund count as one balance rather than the seperate loans and will this just come off the remaining balance on the current loan? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Sara (Debt Camel) says
both refunds will be set against the remaining balance.
Carl says
Morning All,
I received my letter on August 7th and yet to hear from QQ / Enova re settlement.
I emailed them last night, they responded with the following:
” Please be advised we are still working out all the details of the offer for your redress, We should have it paid to you soon, however, as the letter stated we have six weeks to provide the redress”
So at least it sounds like we receive the funds within the 6 week period.
laura says
Thanks Carl.
I’ve called them this morning and they confirmed that they would pay within the 6 week timescale so hopefully in the next two weeks we will have had everything settled.
Rob says
fingers crossed and baited breath!
Nicola says
That sounds a bit more promising then. I was thinking they would wait until the final hour to make the offer and then we would have a further wait for the payment to be made! Fingers crossed we all here something very soon.
Stacey says
Qq haven’t accepted adjudicators decision, so kow back in a queue to be picked up by ombudsman. Qq reason for rejecting the amount of loans isn’t sufficient to for irresponsible lending. 10 in total doesn’t show rollovers though or default. So waiting game now
Stephen says
Hi Sara
So I put a complaint in with QuickQuid August 2018. It was rejected so have passed into FOS.
After 6 months they came back to me in August and the adjudicator found in my favour on 12 of my 14 loans. QuickQuid had until 20th August to respond. I contacted FOS today by email and they came straight back saying they haven’t heard back and are chasing QuickQuid for a response.
Not sure if this is a good or bad sign? I stupidly borrowed over 10k with them between 2011 and 2014. Has anyone who’s had the adjudicator find in their favour had QuickQuid agree to their findings?
Stacey says
They just rejected my adjudicators findings. So its heading to ombudsman.
Maria says
Yes, last week I received an update from my adjudicator stating QQ accepted their recommendations and I have to be refunded (almost 12k) for my loans, which they had previously rejected as they were more than 6 yrs old. I won’t quite believe it until I see it in my bank account. 🤞🤞🤞
Stephen says
That’s great to hear- fingers crossed for you.
Hoping I get a similar outcome!
Michelle says
Hi has anyone else had any payouts from QQ since providing their bank details?
GM says
I haven’t, but I only got an email from QQ yesterday from a Cash Euronet Enova inbox asking me to confirm bank details, which I’ve done straight away.
When did you send your bank details and which contact did you use?
Dale says
I had an offer at approx 3pm on a Friday. I accepted at 5pm and provided bank details, called up my complaints handler immediately to confirm receipt. Money was in my bank an hour later. This was approx 4 weeks ago. I’d say call them.
GM says
Dale, your case was directly with QQ or the FOS? mine had the FOS adjudicator involved, so that might take longer.
Dale says
My case was direct with QQ. I waited 12 weeks and had heard nothing so I went to the FOS. On the 16th week QQ finally replied with the offer, I accepted and subsequently closed my FOS complaints as it was no longer required.
Joseph says
Michelle, call QQ FOS team and they payout almost on the spot, they did it for me as well!! – There number is 02038592760 – Good luck!
Mr and Mrs C says
Sorry to sound so dense, what and where is this spreadsheet that everyone talks about, is it something we can all view?
laura says
It was agreed between QQ and the FOS that they would clear a certain amount of cases waiting for an ombudsman to look at for a final decision. If you were on the spreadsheet, you would have received notification from the FOS. Kind regards Laura
Mr and Mrs C says
Ah thanks Laura, we cant have been on it then
Taylor says
I think it’s for cases that have been waiting around 2 years with older than 6 years old – from what I’ve seen on this. That’s just my guess though and isn’t a fact :)
Dave says
I’m at the 2 year, 2 month stage and I’m sadly no closer to a solution.
QQ have messed around (and been allowed to!) at every possible stage and haven’t accepted any of my complaints, especially those over 6 years.
I expected this game playing from QQ so I’m not surprised.
The only thing that frustrates me is seeing others in the exact same position having their claims dealt with in a relatively speedy fashion despite complaining after me.
I’ve even seen claims submitted *this year* get dealt with one way or another.
I just want an answer!
Hopefully getting a large chunk of outstanding complaunts out of the way will lead to a quicker resolution for the rest of us!
Taylor says
*Loans older than 6 years old.
John says
Some good news.
I have received an email today with an offer. It did not show the working on how they arrive at that figure which is disappointing but I am used to this with QQ. I was on the large list of complaints with the FOS that QQ finally accepted and was one of the recipients of the FOS letter date Aug 7th saying they will settle as per the findings.
All my loans are older than 6 years 2007-2011 and my complaint has been ongoing for about 25 months with the FOS.
My estimated redress figure was a bit more than theirs about £600, but I just accepted it to be done with it, as I know challenging it will lead to delays. It looks like an end is in sight, here’s hoping they pay out quickly from this point.
Alice says
Brilliant news John. I’m desperate to get my offer, this money means a lot to us
Taylor says
Oh that is brilliant John – hopefully you claim some tax back to increase this figure a bit?
Did they specify how long for the funds to hit your account?
John says
I did ask them about timescales for money to be paid in with my acceptance email, but no response as yet. It did say it would be ‘quickly processed’ but that means very little without context as to what they mean but quick.
I will update when the money is paid. :-)
Taylor says
Thanks for keeping us updated John. Gives us all some hope! Technically they have two weeks from tomorrow :)
Colin says
E-mail from the Adjudicator today to say that QQ have got back in touch and rejected his findings (He’d ruled in my favour on a number of loans, some of which were older than six years).
He’s advised that he’s got back to them and asked if they want him to pass his findings to the Ombudsman and said that they may make an offer in the meantime on this basis.
Has anyone had a similar scenario?
Jo says
Me they did that to me in June heard nothing furthe they still haven’t replied r so I requested it be sent to the ombudsman in July however this is now in a que and told this can take another 7 months before it’s even looked at
Stacie says
I am one of the ones from the spreadsheet. I have made a few comments on here since receiving the letter from the FOS on the 7th and Enova contacted me on the 29th. I have just received a number of emails from quick quid to say it had been processed and the funds would be in my account within the hour. Within 15 minutes it was in!! 2 years and 3 months after initial complaint to quick quid this is over! Thank you Sara for your help. How long should I now wait to try and reclaim the tax they have withheld?. Thanks again
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Do you have any other claims in progress?
Stacie says
Hi, no. The claim against quick quid was the only claim I had. Thanks
Sara (Debt Camel) says
So you can put in a tax reclaim now if yiu can estimate your income for the rest of this tax year. If not, it may be easier to wait until the tax year has ended.
Stacie says
Okay. Thank you
Chris says
I recieved my letter from the FOS on the 7th of August. Stating that they were writing to me to tell me that Casheuronet had now told them that they accept their assessment and that they are going to settle my complaint in line with the FOS recommendation. They also said that I should hear from Casheuronet by 6 weeks with full details of its settlement.
Its not been 6 weeks yet but I wondered does this letter mean my complaint is one of the spreadsheet ones? Not heard anything from either quick quid or this enova company yet.
Andy says
Yes your on the spreadsheet.
Jacob says
Hi all,
After originally submitted my complaint in July 2017 (26 months ago) I am at the stage of waiting for an ombudsman to look at the case. My case follows a lot of others on here. Complaint rejected by the business. FOS not able to look in to complaint as QQ objecting against the 6+ year loans. April 2019 adjudicator rules in my favour. QQ disagree with decision and I am told it must go back to the jurisdiction team but not advised why. After numerous phone calls and emails in July I was eventually told that this is because QQ have now decided that I should have known I had to complain within 3 years because I was a civil servant at the time. I explained to the FOS what my job involved (basic admininstrative duties) and was notified on 19/07/2019 that my case would be reviewed by an ombudsman. However I am still waiting for an ombudsman to pick up my case. I was hopeful with all these cases on the spreadsheet being resolved that I wouldn’t have to wait very long but this doesn’t appear to be the case.
Does anyone have any idea/experience of how quickly ombudsman are picking up cases at the moment? I’m starting to get concerned after reading the Enova conference call minutes. I know their financial results are still pretty strong but something doesn’t sit well with me.

Update on my complaint.
QQ have agreed with the adjudicator and made an offer unfortunately it doesn’t include a couple of loans that were detailed. The adjudicator is going back to QQ to find out why. Seems like another delay. Hopefully won’t be too long now.
Kara says
Just an update – I got the FOS letter 4 weeks ago, and today received an email from QQ/Enova with settlement details. The figures are in line with interest amounts that I paid on the 9 loans being refunded, and the 8% interest is close to what I had calculated, and then there’s the 20% tax deduction as expected.
Fingers crossed it’s in the bank soon.
Taylor says
Wooohooo keep us updated on payment :) I hope I get my email soon.
Stacie says
I waited exactly a week from receiving the settlement figure to payment being made, which finally reached my account last night! Hopefully not too long for you now. :)
AndreaG says
Can I just check, if QQ don’t give you an offer or rejection at 6 weeks do you escelate or give them more time?
Sam Lade says
Did anyone raise their complain with the Financial Ombudsman and receive an offer from CashEuronet. If so how long did it take to process. I accepted the offer on Monday 29th October and received an email from Enova on Friday 2nd August. To date I have received nothing further. When I spoke to them on Friday I was told that it can take 6 weeks to process. Just wondering if I am just being fobbed off. Interested to find out if anyone is in a similar situation.

Last update as you are Aware is that QQ playing silly devils and rejected Adjudicator decision and requested it be given to the Ombudsman.
Then out the blue 10 mins ago i got this email, and spoke with FOS and they are unaware of any change in QQ stance of my complaint

Dear Mr Benn,
Thank you for your email. We are aware of the letter you received from FOS. Please be advised we are working to get the details of your offer and will provide you with an update once we have this information available. In the meantime, if you have not already updated your bank account details, you may provide us with that information. We appreciate your patience.
Kind regards,
Karen

Sounds as though you could have been on the spreadsheet as I received this too.

I did not receive a letter from the FOS. Adjudicator ruled in my favour on the 14th May, case submitted April 18.
I have phone the FOS on three occasions and they informed me that QQ have agreed with adjudicator’s decision and I will hear from them within 8 weeks.
My question is, has anybody else been told this who didn’t receive a letter?
EC says
I have been calling FOS regularly trying to get an update and was told on the phone yesterday that QQ have agreed and made an offer. I got an email today from adjudicator with a breakdown of the offer and asking if I wanted to accept (which I have, it’s more than I had calculated!). Not had a response from them, do I now wait for them to get in touch with me or do I change my regular phone calls to QQ to start chasing the money!
TT says
Hey
I was on the spreadsheet and got an offer last Wednesday or Thursday which was paid into my account this morning. Just over £10k, very happy

Hi TT,
Fantastic early Xmas present.
My claim goes back 2016.
How do you find this spreadsheet?
Thanks.

Great news that QQ appear to be finally dealing with complaints.
I had adjudicators decision in my favour on 24 loans over 6 years old on 31st July, on 14th August another adjudicator rang to say that on a internal review they were amending the recommendation to 23 loans and QQ had until August 28th to reply, i emailed the adjudicator who made the revised recommenation this week for an update and got an auto response that she was on extended leave until 31st October and that someone else was dealing with her cases. I contacted the new person to be told that they were still awaiting a response from QQ and that due to delays it could be another 6-8 weeks.
I’m well into the second year of my complaint now and its getting so frustrating, at least some people are now being paid.
Just got to wait it out i guess but i’m getting pessimistic expecting QQ to disagree and it will go in the queue for an ombudsmans review.
Stephen says
I’m in much the same situation- adjucator found in favour and QQ had until August 20th to reply. Chased FOS yesterday and they said they were chasing QQ for a response. So am playing the waiting game again. Glad people are finally getting complaints paid out but worry the increased delays may not be great for the rest of us.
Elizabeth Newton says
Hi All,
Can someone tell where this legendary Spreadsheet can be found.
Thanks.
Mr G says
Hi Elizabeth, Not 100% sure but I believe only FOS and QQ have this spreadsheet. It appears to be cases which were rejected by QQ on the grounds of the loans being more than 6 years from complaint and after an adjudicator had upheld the complaint. I am on this spreadsheet (apparently) as I received a letter a few weeks ago from the FOS, have not heard anything else since though.
Elizabeth says
Thanks Mr G.
I meet this criteria and received no such letter, I just emailed the FOS why I had not.
Hope you get a response soon.
Thanks.
Craig Benn says
I am not sure, i spoke with FOS this evening at 1940, and FOS say that QQ have contacted them since 13th August and last contact was that QQ are still of the belief that the FOS has no jurisdiction over the 6 and 3 issues and demand my case go in the ombudsman queue. Which is what i demanded after getting no decent service or result from my Adjudicator.
The FOS call handler said to delete that email as they believe it is an admin error on the behalf of QQ, as they are challenging the jurisdiction rule again and requesting all Adjudicator decisions go before an ombudsman for a final decision.
So don’t know what to make of this mess.
Trevor says
Had my letter on the 7/8/19 advising me that quickquid has agreed with the adjudicator decision and advised quickquid will be in contact within 6 weeks before. So 4 weeks today received an email advising me I am owed in the region of £2900-£3000 and I have accepted the offer as it was there or there abouts what I was expecting!! So has anyone else had to wait 6 weeks and been paid yet? Can they let me know how long this takes from accepting the offer to funds in the bank!
19 months on we have a conclusion!!!
Taylor says
Looks like a week after settlement is agreed people are getting paid! I got my letter and still waiting my email. Glad you’ve got what was expected! :)
Graham says
Sounds very promising hopefully you should get your payout soon! I’ve yet to receive the email with regards to the redress amount. Its pretty much the same as yours around 3k. Hoping they will sort mine out in the nex few days!

Hang in there the pair of you It’s a matter of time I’d say! :)

Sara
Could I possibly ask you to give me your opinion on a QQ FRL received today please? I complained early June 2019 direct to QQ, unsure whether to take the offer or refer to FOS and face a lengthy delay. For me this hinges on whether loan 4 would be included in any redress from FOS.
Loan 1 10.7 09 to 31.7.09 200 int 45
Loan 2 5.8.09 to 28.8.09 850 interest 106.25
Loan 3 3.9.09 to 30.9.09 700 int 157.50
Loan 4 5.10.09 to 31.30.10 800 int 1160 – 5 rollovers in this
Loan 5 31.3.10 – 30.4010 and still outstanding 1000 int 200 – 2 rollovers
paying 4.50 per month since late 2010 to now on the last loan, £50 per year 9 years so approx £450. no idea of the balance before QQ sold debt but their offer shows redress on loan 5 of £200 plus int so £320.62, so I would owe £1103.38. Presuming theyve already removed the £450 paid that would mean the last loan was £1873 owing – and have no way to verify this.
Usual comments in the letter as per your page above.
I was hoping for redress from loan 3 but at worst loan 4.
Problem I have is 3 bank accounts and the earliest I can get statements for is Dec 09, these show an overdraft around £3k rising to 4.5k, 4 credit card payments plus payments to WDA, Pounds till Payday, MEM and QQ themselves. Cant get earlier statements for the other 2 accounts. Do you think theres enough to go to FOS re loan 4?
Help, as always, very much appreciated
Sara (Debt Camel) says
So I can’t say FOS definitely would include loan 4 but there is a good chance that they would include at least some of the rollovers, possibly all.
Loan 5 – you borrowed £1000? how much did you pay QQ before the loan was sold? How much have you since paid the debt collector? Ignore calculation of interest and balance.
NJG says
Sara
Thanks for replying. Re loan 5. I cant find any payments I made through my bank after I received the loan of £1000 and think I just stopped and set up a payment plan so would only be the £450 that I think Ive paid over the last 9 years. I set up a payment plan and its just carried on year on year. The British Legion wrote to everyone I owed money owe offering token payments and Ive never been contacted since, just pay up every month, Ive never been asked to review the amounts I pay or increase. I often wonder what would happen if I did just stop paying after all these years
Sara (Debt Camel) says
but you said you rolled it twice? you normally have to pay a month sinterest when you roll a loan?
NJG says
It says rollover x 2 on QQ table but I can’t find any payments since Mar 2010, maybe I need to trawl through the bank statements again??? Do you think QQ would give me a payment breakdown?
NJG says
Sara
I paid two x £100 then went on a payment plan. QQ have only used the 2 payments and not the £450 that I have been paying over the last 9 years and aren’t answering me as to how the 450 is included do you have any experience with instances like this?
Matt says
I also got my refund today which I accepted last Thursday

Sara, Good news :-)
Thanks to you and wonderful folks on here I managed to stay on top of setbacks over years with QQ. rejected loans over 6 years. Then with FOS awaiting assignment to an adjudicator. Then wait most of us had whilst FOS / QQ accepting. I referenced this site when asked by FOS what made me realise I could complain.
It was true as didn’t know could until stumbled on this site. Adjudicator made decision felt FOS able to look loans, QQ rejected. Eventually accepting as likely on-the spreadsheet list.
I have had varying success with PDL’s claims – lost out on Wonga and WDA after getting upheld before ;-( This is by far my biggest success and it’s on the most part down to this site, and everyone on here providing information and general good spirit.
I have got out the PDL cycle cut up credit cards – this will help clear off debt reduce monthly outgoings. Will feel great to get back on my feet, clear recent arrears, have less monthly expenses and know that I don’t want to get into that position ever again.
The wait for me was very stressful and worrying, but it does seem, according to my experience and others on here that QQ are now doing the right thing and settling. Again, thank you Sara, this site has helped make a massive positive difference to my life at a time where things could have got very serious otherwise.

Update – received emails from Enova this afternoon confirming refund processed and will be in my account within the hour.
Checked account and payments received within 30 mins of receiving the emails. Paid in separate amounts totalling amount of offer.
I wasn’t on the spreadsheet. Received offer via FOS adjusdicator last Tues. Enova contacted me this Tuesday to confirm bank details and then payment emails received today. So payment received in 7 working days of offer.
Hope you all get your payments very soon!
Sam says
Wow you lucky thing. Enjoy your money. :)

Enova International provides the refunds after FOS side with an applicant. At present their phone mailbox is full so they cant even discuss refunds. Their systems possibly getting overloaded very quickly which I hope doesn’t impact timelines to payment. Fos sides with my wife 5 weeks ago and no refund yet
Sam says
Jack I am on week 5 too and no sign of a refund even though they sent the Ombudsman an offer. Apparently it can take up to 6 weeks to process. Next Friday will be 6 weeks so hoping to receive some money by then.
Lee says
Finally – an update.
Adjudicator has replied to QQ have 2 weeks to reply.
The adjudicator has said they must refund on loans 5-14 (approx £2000 interest paid) + 8% interest.
All loans are 7 years old.
Anybody know how to work out interest?
Reading These comments – are QQ replying within 2 weeks? This process has going on for a loooooong time.
Can’t wait to see the finish line .
Taylor says
Hi Lee,
I was at this stage May time this year and QQ ended up late to respond (after the 2 week period) and rejected the decision. Then it went into a queue for the Ombudsman. I got a letter on the 7th of August (same as a few others with loans over 6 years old) and we’ve got a 6 week window for QQ to provide a settlement figure. Hopefully you aren’t too far behind! keep up the hope! :)
Jo says
How long did it take from the adjudicator decision being rejected to the ombudsman picking up the complaint mine is in the que for the ombudsman and they said it could take another 7 months
Mr and Mrs C says
Hi Lee, our 2 weeks is up today – heard nothing :(
Interest – add up all the interest paid in one year eg. £250 paid in 2014 x .08 x no of years
£250 x 0.08 x 5 years = £100 interest
add the original amount = £350.00
You will probably get the 20% tax deducted though.
Zoe says
Hi Lee
QQ were due to reply by 28th Aug at the latest following the adjudicator deciding in my favour – they replied on 28th so took the full 2 weeks. Still waiting for payment though.

UPDATE on my QQ Non spreadsheet complaint
Adj gave QQ a deadine of 30th of Aug to respond. Deadline came and went and was told to be patient by Adj and wouldn’t set a 2nd deadline to go in ombudsmen. Emailed enova direct and told them I wanted an update. 3 days later got told they had replied to adjudicator. Rang FOS and agreed to the below which in effect was loans 2-5 being refunded,
• Refund the interest and charges paid £1,341.22
• Add Interest at 8% simple £877.49
• Less 20% tax withholding on interest £175.50
• Waiver of the outstanding interest and charges £392.39
• Amount applied to the unpaid principal £970.66
• Remaining amount to be paid to Mr ### £1,072.55
• Remove the credit file entries associated with loans ########
Overall all very happy and thanks again sara for your help

Same with me. I managed to get through twice, but the guy said that he couldn’t do anything because it had to be dealt by the case handler and told me that they usualy take 3 days to reply. I think that the days of paying “there and then” at QQ are over.
Rob says
Hi guys,
Cash Euro Net /Quickquid/ did not reply to adjudicator’s findings. They were given 4 weeks in total to either accept or reject adjudicator’s decision. Do you think they can still send their decision? I do not really want to go Ombudsman as it will take months again but on the other hand it looks like there is no other choice.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
yes they may reply late. If they don’t, then it has to go to an Ombudsman, nothing else you can do.
Simeon says
Sent my complaint against qq in February as I didn’t agree with their offer. Start of August Ombudsman sent qq their decision which was to pay back interests and charges on loans 3-11 (all over 6 years old) as qq only wanted to pay interest on loan 11.
Qq accepted the decision 30/08 and today emailed me to confirm bank details. Getting a redress if £3,800 which is a lot better than the original offer of £44!! They have said payment will be received within 28 days of the decision. Does anyone know usual time to receive payment?
ben says
Hey guys. Thought i’d let you know my experiences of getting money back from Quickquid. I submitted my initial complaint in December of 2018, they took their sweet time and finally replied in March this year. I immediately escalated. They obviously rejected my complaints (on 15 loans, they were allowing me to recklessly take out £1500+ loans on a bi-monthly basis over the last few years).
The FCA have sent their first feedback and have given Quickquid 9 working days to respond before they proceed. They have determined they should refund all interest and charges for 12 of my 15 loans, along with 8% interest, for some loans dating back to 2016.
They’ve been told unless new evidence surfaces by the 18th of September then this gets escalated and (hopefully) finalised. Wonder if they’ll pay after the FCA put their findings into action. Will keep you updated.
Andy S says
Hi,
I just want to clarify a point about expected redress on the mini loans paid over 3 installments. If upheld should the fees and interest on each of the 3 installments be refunded or just the final 3rd installment?
Thanks.

Laura says
Probably will have to go to the ombudsman. As you can see from the above, most of us have been waiting nearly two years from the initial contact. It’s not quick, but it can be worth it! Send it to them to get the ball rolling and if they then come back with an offer it’s up to you what you do. Good luck!
AndreaG says
QQ have had 9 weeks now with no final response to my complaint, I’ve emailed to chase but do I just escalate or cant I do this until I get a final response?? I’ve sent them my reference number etc as soon as requested.
Craig Benn says
Escalate it, to the FOS immediately, they don’t negotiate.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
You can send it to FOS now as it is passed 8 weeks. And you should do this.

Did you receive an acknowledgement of complaint from them?
I got this email 25 days after my acknowledgement, I refer to previous communications and the purpose of this email is to assure you that the investigation of your complaint is still ongoing. I would like to thank you for your patience and confirm we will contact you as soon as possible, and at latest within eight weeks of the date we received your complaint.
Did you get this too?
I’ve got to wait till end of September before I can escalate mine, hoping for an offer to be honest though.
15 loans across 2 years, £6000 lent, £4000 interest.
Best of luck with yours.

Hi. After getting the 7 August letter (and being on the spreadsheet), I got my email offer on Wednesday this week. I replied with bank details and the money was in my account on Thursday evening. I sent a couple of emails in the interim, asking when it would be paid so this may have helped.
Rob says
Which email did you use to chase them if you dont mind me asking Kara?
Kara says
I replied to the offer e-mail – it starts with foscomplaints and then has as id number.

Finally!!!
I received a letter on the 7th from the FOS as I was on their spreadsheet. Late last night received an email from Enova giving me a redress figure and asking me to confirm bank details. So it looks like my ordeal with QQ is coming to an end. Just over 26 months from initial complaint.
Is there a link for me to claim back the 20% tax back?
Thank you Sara once again for all your help.
Andrew says
I received my letter on the 7th still not heard anything, is anyone else still waiting for QQ to contact them, they are cutting it very fine,
Charles says
Hi Andrew,
You are not alone I’m afraid, I’m in the same boat, letter received on the 7th, bank details submitted and verified by QQ some 3-4 weeks ago, and heard nothing back since.
Technically, the do have until the 18th to reimburse us, so I’ve not lost all hope just yet!
Charles
Rob says
Same for me, waiting for the offer. Im sick of checking my emails now… haha
Kara says
Have you chased them via email? I got my payment within 36 hours of the offer email, but did send a couple of chasing emails during this time.
John M says
Still waiting for my offer after getting the letter on 7th August. I wonder how they are working through the offers and what sort of process is being followed here. Wondered if it was in alphabetical order so as my surname begins with an M I am further down the list. I guess it is just a case of waiting patiently but I would just like to know it’s moving forward now I suppose……
Carl says
My surname begins with L, nothing heard. But they are still within their time frame, so I cant moan ha.
Andrew says
My surname begins with H still heard nothing
Nicola says
Hope it isn’t alphabetical…mine’s R!! ha! Should be in order of complaint time really?! Mine’s been almost 2 years :-(
Fingers crossed we hear today! Surely it has to be soon, so they have time to process it all within the 6 weeks.
Christine says
I got my letter on the 7th August and my surname starts with a C so defo not alphabetical
Wayne says
It’s certainly not alphabetical as my surname starts with a Y. I got an email with redress last night and my complaint was over 2 years.
N says
Be interested to know how far through the backlog they are. I tried chasing them last night haven’t done this before and got the normal sorry I don’t know your case hasn’t been picked up yet. I asked about the timescales and they couldn’t tell me. I asked about whether I would hear anything before the 6 weeks is up and they said to call back if you don’t. When I pushed them about the fact that the redress should be paid within 6 weeks she said she thinks it is just communication about the redress within 6 weeks. I guess it is just a little frustrating not knowing how far through the claims they have got and whether they are likely to do it before the six week deadline or if it will go over like most things do at Quickquid. A lot of us have been waiting for a long time for rebates and the lack of communication and cast iron guaranteees is annoying.
Sam says
I was told 28days, then when I chased it up last week on the 28th day I was told 6 weeks. I actually went back to the ombudsman about it and they said they have between 4 – 8 weeks to deal with it. I have just decided to wait now till 8 weeks is up and when that is done, then get back in contact. I don’t think calling or emailing makes a difference I have not heard anything from them since 2nd August. They obviously have a system they are following.
Vix says
Hi, this is my first time posting, my complaint was first logged in October 17, so just falling short of 2 years. Like most I’ve had the same experiences, 6 year issue, adjudicator ruling in my favour, QQ rejecting, then finally receiving the letter on 7th August saying they now agree and will be in touch within 6 weeks regarding the redress. I’m yet to hear about the redress, as frustrating as it is checking constantly for the email, hearing people who also on the famous spreadsheet have started to receive emails and payouts is reassuring. I’ve just got to wait it out just that little bit longer….this is the hardest part throughout all of it! Thanks to everyone for all the updates.
david says
rather than posting back on an old comment which will no doubt prove troubling when it comes to helping others out, I thought I’d post afresh…
original complaint to QQ Jan 2017. FOS upheld complaint April 2019. only YESTERDAY have I established, after MONTHS of trying to get this information out of both the FOS and QQ, that QQ rejected FOS findings and my complaint has now been passed to the Ombudsman queue.
Really poor experience all around really, with very little to no prompts or updates from either party without endless requests for answers. I appreciate the FOS is doing me a job here and they are extremely busy, but I’ve had other cases which have been much more efficient and provided much more regular updates. As for QQ, well they are hopeless full stop.
All I can hope for now is that the Ombudsman upholds the Adjudicator decision and I get even more interest!
P says
Does anyone actually know for sure if they have 6 weeks to make payment or 6 weeks to get in contact – surely there shouldn’t be any grey areas with it if it’s coming from the FOS – I doubt very much that anything is done with alphabetical order of surnames.
I imagine they knew how long it would take to redress the amount of people on the “spreadsheet” before the committed to the deal with FOS.
But if anyone knows what the 6 weeks entails please do tell.
N says
As I mentioned in a post a couple above they said to me yesterday communication by the six weeks not payment. However I believe some people have said in different posts that they have been told full payment within 6 weeks. Seems like Quickquid don’t really know to me!
Jane Praneya says
The FOS said 6 weeks and Quick Quid using Enova International (UK) issue the refunds. Enova converts this into 28 working days from when you accepted their offer not from when FOS write to tell them they have 6 weeks. Be aware since 3rd Sep Enova group phone and mailbox has been full so I would expect them to go way beyond the 28 working days in some cases (I’m at 39). Good to see Casheuronet setting up a useless company to sort out what they owe. Bottom line their adding to the wait and settlement times despite fos direction
Lesley-Anne Murray says
Hello Everyone,
I’m just looking for your thoughts on my case which is with FOS now.
I put in an affordability complaint to QuickQuid around 18 months ago now. Got a reply very quickly saying not upholding my complaint. From what I gather here, I got the same generic response as most of us. So I took it to FOS. My loans were over 6 years ago so I was expecting a long old wait.
Fast forward to now and my case was finally with an adjudicator last month (August). Now, from when the adjudicator contacted me to say they were looking at my case to them contacting me to say they were upholding my complaint, it was 3 days!! This quick turnaround tells me it was a no brainer.
So, FOS have said from the 4th rollover of my 2nd loan to loan 7 (which was the final loan), QuickQuid haven’t done enough affordability checks and think they shouldn’t have given me those loans. They have recommended refunding the interest and removing from credit record.
QuickQuid have disagreed with the decision. They say on the final 2 loans should be upheld and have offered £1,500.
I have not accepted this.
Is this wise?! Should I go back and just take it? Can I even do that, go back and say yes? I don’t want to walk away with nothing. It took me a long long tine to sort myself out financially. I feel I’ve paid my dues and then some.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kind regards
Lesley-Anne
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Do you know how much interest you paid on the rollover s and loans the adjudicator said should be refunded?
Lesley-Anne says
The adjudicator didn’t mention a figure overall. When I calculated it based on the info QuickQuid gave me, it was around £3,500
