Payday lenders – email addresses for complaints

If you want to get a refund for “unaffordable” payday loans, the first step is to complain to the lender. Often it’s simple as the lender has a Complaints section on their website, but some have been taken over or the website isn’t there anymore, so here is a list of their email addresses.

For all these emails put AFFORDABILITY COMPLAINT as the subject of the email.

If you haven’t already seen it, read and bookmark Can I get a payday loan refund?

That page has the template letters for complaints and it also looks at the most common things that happen, such as whether you should accept an offer or take the case to the Financial Ombudsman.

Payday lenders in administration or already liquidated

The following firms have disappeared, or have been dissolved (they no longer exist or have any assets) or the administrators are not accepting any more complaints,  and I don’t think the Ombudsman is taking new complaints. If you have an existing claim in with the administrators you may get a small amount back:

  • Access fast Money; Bonga Loans; Capfin (other brand names Ecash Window & EPDL); Cash Genie; Cash Choice; Cash Store; Cash365; Cheque Centre (the Loan Store & Square Today); CFO (Payday First, Flexible First, Money Resolve, Payday Advance);  Dosh Loans; Different Money (My Mate); Easy Finance Club; Ferratum; Forces loans (V Gates); Handycash; Lifeboat loans; Liquid Advance; Microlend; the Money Shop (PaydayUK & Payday Express); Money In Advance; Mini Credit; NextCredit; Oakam; Open Door Loans; Payday First; Payday Overdraft; Peachy; Perfect Payday; Pick A Payday; Pixie; Pogo Loans; Prime Payday; Purple Payday; QuickQuid (Pounds to Pocket & OnStride); Quid24; Response Funding (Fancy a Payday); Safetynet Credit (Tappily); Satsuma; Smart Pig; Speed Credit; Speed-e-loans; Speedycash; Speedy Dosh; StepStone Credit; Sunny; Swift Sterling;  Toothfairy; Trusted Quid; Txt Me Cash; Umbrella Loans; Uncle Buck; Vivus; Wageday Advance, Wonga; 1st Stop; 247 Moneybox; 321 Cash;

There are literally dozens of payday lenders that have gone without trace. The above are just some of the ones people have asked about. There are also lenders who were never authorised such as Loans4U / Loans4You who you can’t take a complaint to the ombudsman about.

The info here may not be up to date. so the safe thing is for you to look in the company’s website to see how to make a complaint or what form to complete if the lender is in administration.
If you can’t locate the website, talk to the Financial Ombudsman about these firms
.

Affordability complaints to other lenders

Large loans, including car finance & logbook loans

For contact details for lenders such as banks, Avant Credit, Bamboo Loans, Everyday Loans, Loans2Go, Likely Loans, Moolr, On Stride, Savvy and 118 118 Money, and car finance lenders, see Refunds from largeloans and logbook loans.

Doorstep lenders

The Provident Scheme has ended and it’s too late to complain. Morses has gone into administration. For other doorstep lenders such as Mutual, see Get a refund for unaffordable doorstep lending.

Guarantor lenders

It is now too late to make a complaint to Amigo’s Scheme. For guarantor lenders such as UK Credit and TFS  see How borrowers can get refunds from a guarantor loan OR Complaints by guarantors.

Affordability complaints to bank and credit cards

See email addresses for banks and credit card complaints.

Anything missing or wrong?

If there is a missing lender, or you think one of these addresses is wrong, please leave a Comment at the bottom of this article.

A good place to try to track down old lenders is the FCA Register, as this lists firms’ brand names as well as their company names and also sometimes shows details for firms that have ceased trading.

If you still aren’t having any luck, then try the Financial Ombudsman’s complaints line – they are very friendly!

Hi – does anyone know anything about Think Finance. I have 3 loans listed on my credit report from 2012 but I don’t know which PD lender is/was under their umbrella. I have just submitted complaints to the others I know about – Wonga, QQ, Mr Lender and WDA.

For years and years I’ve struggled in the cycle of these companies and like you do u tried to sort it out on my own,it got to a point where my parents could notice a change in me, I finally told them what was happening and what kind of mess I was in,they were kind enough to lend me money to pay back these companies and until now I never knew you could or people have had success in taking on these companies. It’s nice to see people are having luck and are taking the bull by the horns and getting money back. Shame it takes so long for replies,if you were late paying them then they would be on the phone hounding you for money.I may start the ball rolling with this very soon.

I just tried to speak to cet@dfconline.com & ask them for an account statement…she took me through all my details, updated to my now current address (which I don’t know why she had to), but then as soon as I said I wanted an account statement from her, but yet I no longer have an account with them, that they are under no obligation to send me the information I’m requesting. She just kept repeating that same sentence.

I borrowed £50 & ended up paying back in the region of about £300. How am I supposed to claim anything back if they won’t even send you what you need to be able to?

      Hi Stacey,

if you know you had one loan and roughly what you repaid, then you really have enough information to put in a complaint, so you could just ignore this. See https://debtcamel.co.uk/payday-lender-wont-send-loan-details/ for details.

SLL Capital is now a debt collector but they list Safeloans as one of their previous brand names on the FCA register (https://register.fca.org.uk/ShPo_FirmDetailsPage?id=001b000000kghy7AAA) so you should be able to complain to them at customercomplaints@sllcapital.co.uk.

Yes you can complain about loans that you have repaid – template letters here: https://debtcamel.co.uk/payday-loan-refunds/

    Hello all,
Not sure where to post this… but I’m literally at a loss for words. In 2011 I took out a series of Payday loans, things were really bad so I can’t remember all the lenders.
At the end of last year I got a copy of my credit report and saw a default for £1100+ by Kapama. After calling them I found out the debt belonged to minicredit.
I made a series of complaints requesting the credit agreement, statement and default notice. Particularly as I couldn’t remember having the debt. I was told it was for £100 or £150. Note: I was told £100 on the telephone and 150 in their final response to my complaint.
Kapama ignored my emails for several months and I only got a final response last month. They sent me a credit agreement with no amount borrowed, no date or repayment date due. The whole thing looked dodgy. No logo or signature (electronic or otherwise). They said the original lender sold the debt to Kapama but they don’t have a copy of the default notice or statement. I
    referred straight to the ombudsman.
Yesterday I receive a call from the adjudicator saying the credit agreement looks in order? And she doesn’t see any issue. However she has agreed to obtain a copy of my old bank account to verify if I did in fact take out the loan. I’d definitely like to know if I did borrow this money, I don’t think I did. But I’m at a loss for words they can get away with defaulting someone without sending any paperwork whatsoever.

If your bank statements show that you didn’t take out the loan, I guess the problem is solved.

If it is there (and if you can’t remember all the lenders I suppose it could be) then there are other options:

      1) you could look more closely at whether you have been sent a valid credit agreement, because if you haven’t the loan is likely to be unenforceable in a court. Good places to get advice on this include National Debtline 0808 808 4000 if you would like phone advice or Citizens Advice for face-to-face advice. Or you could post about this on the Legal Beagles forum where they love looking at credit agreements, https://legalbeagles.info/forums/ – actually you could do that now, no need to wait for the bank statements issue to be resolved.

      2) you may have a payday loan affordability complaint or a complaint about how a £100 or £150 debt has increased to £1100 without you being sent any statements.

        Thank you Sara,
I’ll do both. I hate not doing anything, at least by doing something I’ll feel empowered and hopefully I’ll get some results as I’ve been trying to resolve this issue for several months now.

I have been checking through my Bank statements and am shocked at the pure number of payday loans I had!

I have found loans with all the usual names plus ‘GETAPAYDAYLOANFAST’ on my statement, ‘PICKWICKS’, ‘GODFREY BROTHERS’ and SPEEDLOAN LTD’
Does anyone have any experience with these ones? I think SpeedLoan is Ablemarlebond?

I have had success with Wagedayadvance, H&T and Speedycash – Payday express, Payday UK and Moneyshop are with the Ombudsman.

    Hi Sara,

I have had a reply from Kapama regarding Mini Credit loans. Despite me giving them all of my details they have said that they have no record of me having an account with Mini Credit. They also said that they only purchased accounts from Mini Credit in 2014 when they ceased trading so unless the account was still in debt, which it wasn’t they would have no details of it. Can I still make a claim and if so do I send it to Kapama?

Kapama have only taken over the loans that were open and have no liability so far as I am aware for the previous loans. You could try calling the Financial Ombudsman and asking if you can do anything about this, but I am not optimistic.

If you are asking them to accept less than the normal payment, it is reasonable of them to ask about your expenses as they show what you can afford. If you go through https://debtremedy.stepchange.org/quickassessment.aspx that helps to make sure you don’t forget anything.

Just had a reply from opos/Kapama, originally Minicredit. I had a loan for £80 that went to £824 in 3 months, so i refused to pay it until they removed excessive charges. They have said they bought the debt from Minicredit and it still stands at £824 and they are not intersested as they are not responsible for the charges. They sent me a supposed copy of my credit report at the time, which was clean, but in reality I had ccj”s and defaults and have proof. They must have made this up. What do I do next? Do I have a complaint? Straight to the FOS?

Please be advised Paul Boyle and David Clements of Harrisons Business Recovery and Insolvency Limited, were appointed Joint Administrators of CFO Lending Limited (‘the Company’) on 6 April 2017, with the company now officially in administration.

You can put in a complaint to the Finanical Ombudsman. But people who have already won these complaints are being told there isn’t any money to pay them, or they may only get £40 :( There may be nothing you can do about this.

I have just received a very speedy reply from 1st Stop rejecting my complaint as they said they did all the necessary checks when i took out a payday loan with them of £150 and I repaid the £202.50 on time. I only ever had the one loan with them but at the time I had several other payday loans which I didn’t tell them about. Is it worth me challenging the claim rejection letter, should I contact the financial ombudsman or just leave it?

I suggest you reply to them saying that your credit record would have shwed that you had just failed an IVA and a lot of debt including other payday loans and that you will be going to the ombudsman unless they refund the interest you paid on your loan.

Liquid advance / capital resolve say my complaint is with the lender as they are only debt collectors.
    Thank you for your email.

However, are you aware you have contacted Capital Resolve Limited? We have never been a payday lender. We are a debt collection agency.

If you have received a letter from us, please provide your case reference number and a contact telephone number so that we may get back to you.

A few people who had debts passed to Capital Resolve got them wiped out by complaining. If your Liquid Advance loans were never passed to CR this isn’t likely to work.

Last year another Craig (well he was using a different email address) said to contact DHR Capital Ltd. The email for this would be justinblloyd@gmail.com. I have no idea if this suggestion is accurate.

    Hi everyone

I have been stuck in a cycle of payday loans since about 2008, over the years I have taken well over £20,000 in payday loans, having to borrow to pay them back over and over each month. I have contacted them all asking for a Statement of Account and made them aware that I am complaining about unaffordable loans, I will take it to the Ombudsman after 8 weeks. My query here is I took out many loans with a company called Money in Advance which are no longer trading, what do I do about them?

    Any advice much appreciated.

Money in Advance hasn’t traded for several years and the company was dissolved in April 2016. There is unlikely to be anything you can do, but if you had a lot of loans, you could talk to the Financial Ombudsman about this.

Can anybody please advise if they have had any luck with minicredit/Kapama/Opos? I sent my complaint to Opos and didn’t get a response so I sent it to FOS and an adjudicator has recently come back to me and said they cannot consider whether it was provided irresponsibily, as Kapama didn’t lend to me Mini Credit did and they are no longer operating.

    What can I do now?

I am currently experiencing problems with OPOS who are chasing a debt of £856.00 relating to a £100.00 loan taken out with Mini Credit some years ago. I have explained to them that I have an issue with Mini credit as I used them several times and on one occasion they took over £500 from my bank when I was late paying back a £100 loan which I was really annoyed about and had not authorised this large card payment. I have been in a debt relief order and have now completed this but unfortunately the guy at citizens advice left this debt of the order by accident. What do you suggest i do as I do not want to pay anymore than £100 back, they said Mini Credit are in administration.

I suggest you put in an affordability to complaint to OPOS.

Have you discussed the DRO error with CAB? If you had informed them of the debt, there may be a case for them compensating you for omitting it.

What is an affordability to complaint that you have suggested?

I did ask the CAB what had gone wrong and they apologized for missing this debt off the DRO and have said just ignore OPOS and wait till 6 years have passed so it will fall off the credit report, but I would rather just get it sorted

I think you should go back to CAB and ask for compensation. They may be able to negotiate a full & final settlement with OPOS for the debt for a couple of hundred. It’s their fault you are landed with this debt.

“affordability to complaint” was a typo, should have read “affordability complaint” see https://debtcamel.co.uk/payday-loan-refunds/

    MINICREDIT/MICROCREDIT & OPOS/KAMPAMA

Ok these guys are grey and hard to beat but you can! Opos and Kapama hold you initial loans information.

To clarify in 01.04.2014 mini/MICROCREDIT withdrew it’s license from the UK market. Under agreement with the FCA they were not permitted to issue any further loans or rollovers from that date. They were also instructed to waive ALL INTEREST and CHARGES before transferring to OPOS LTD and were not allowed to apply any further charges from that date! Now in my case my loan was issued on 2.7.14 after their license, charges were added and I repaid opos 384.75, however OPOS/KAPAMA should not have bought this loan as they had no license to issue it! If you contact the FOS regarding this you MUST advise of the APPLICATION OF VOLUNTARY VARIATION and CANCELLATION OF PERMISSION BY MICROCREDIT. Interim permission reference number 621701. This can be found on Google and this will suffice to reclaim some money if you have a case similar to mine. Don’t give up on them OPOS are rude, I found KAPAMA much better to resolve!

I have been struggling with these guys for ages, they say I owe £856 from a £100 loan taken out with mini credit in 2013, I wouldn’t mind but when mini credit were operating they took nearly £700 out of my bank without my permission one day when I had missed my repayment date on a previous £100 loan. what do you think I should do. They are not chasing me for the money but it still shows on my credit record that I owe £856.

    Hi,

I have unfortunately had many payday loans over the past 5 years, with at least “21” different lenders (listed)… so thought i would give this a go!
    Cashasap – Credio – Creditstar – Lending stream – Likely loans – Microcredit / oposlimited – Mrlender – Myjar – Nextcredit – PaydayUK – Peachy – Pixie loans – Quickquid – Quid market – Safetynet – Satsuma – Swift Sterling – Unckle buck – Vivus – Wagedayadvance – 24/7 Moneybox.

I have just sent out the initial loan details request…

A few of the above have automatically replied acknowledgement of my email with varied expected response times.

However Vivus automatically replied the following:
“V7 limited trading as Vivus.co.uk stopped trading in March 2017. All regulatory permissions have been withdrawn.”

Not sure where I go with this one now?

Will keep you updated with any future correspondence… So fingers crossed.

Payday Advance is a brand name of CFO Lending who went into administration in April 2017 – you should talk to the Financial Ombudsman about whether it is worth pursuing any complaint against them.

Clearaccount is a brand name of Indigo Michael – put in a complaint to their main brand, Safetynet Credit.

          Hi Stacie,

coming back to you on Vivus / Moriarty Law. Moriarty Law may have problems producing the Consumer Credit Act agreement and statements of account for some Vivus loans. I suggest you should ask them to produce these, see https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/factsheets/Pages/getting-information/credit-agreement-advice.aspx. NB you have to send a cheque for £1 with your request. If they can’t send the information, then the debt is unenforceable in court and you can stop making any payments to it.

Open Door loans closed in February 2015. You could ask the Financial Ombudsman but I am not optimistic.

321 cash I can’t find a trace of as a UK payday lender.
