The administration of WDFC, the legal company who operated the Wonga brand, was completed in August 2020.
The company was finally dissolved in December 2020.
See Companies House records for details.
Background to the administration – rising complaint numbers
A payday loan is “unaffordable” if repaying meant you had to get into more debt, by borrowing again or getting behind on bills or other debts. So you may have repaid all your loans but still have a good claim for a refund of the interest you paid.
When Wonga went under there were over 200,000 people with current loans from Wonga – many of them had a good case for the interest to be removed from their balance so they only repay what they borrowed.
The Administrators proposals set out the reasons why Wonga went into administration. These were the increasing number of affordability complaints, especially from Claims Companies, and the decision by the Financial Ombudsman that FOS could look at loans over 6 years old, going back to 2007.
There were 24,000 affordability complaints awaiting a decision by Wonga and 9,500 complaints against Wonga with the Financial Ombudsman when Wonga ceased trading on 30 August 2018.
Details on the Administration
The Administrators have made various progress reports (available from Companies House) and statements during 2018-20:
- in October 2018, the Administrators published their Proposals, detailing how they planned to handle the administration. Creditors voted to approve these Proposals.
- progress report to end February 2019;
- Witness Statement in April 2019;
- progress report to end August 2019.
An online claim page was set up in April 2019 for Wonga customers to submit claims for refunds. The deadline for sending in a claim was 30 September 2019.
The Administrators assessed all claims using an automated tool. This took account of:
- all loans, including those over 6 years old
- how large a loan was compared to a customer’s income;
- how often someone borrowed without significant gaps;
- whether there were indications of hardship such as missed payments;
- if there is a balance outstanding for the right of set-off.
Where it decided one or more loans were unaffordable, it calculated how much interest should be refunded and added statutory interest at 8%.
In August 2019 the Administrators starting sending emails to people saying whether their claims have been successful or rejected.
In September, the Administrators sent an update on progress up to end August 2019. Key points include:
- at end August, 389,621 claims for unaffordable payday lending have been accepted by the administrators;
- the total value of these claims is c £460million – an average of c £1,200 a claim.
- £23m of outstanding loans have been collected. The Administrators say that outstanding loans are being taken into account and given the right of set-off where the customer has a claim for unaffordable loans.
- The remaining loan book will not be sold to a debt collector.
At this point the Administrators were saying that payments would be made by 30 January 2020.
29 January 2020 – administrators announce 4.3p in the pound
On 29 January 2020, the Wonga administrators announced that they will be paying 4.3p in the pound to unsecured creditors, including all the 400,000 people who are owed a refund for unaffordable lending.
The administrators have now given the final numbers:
- they assessed 401,202 claims as being valid;
- of these 358,129 are being paid 4.3% of their assessed compensation value;
- the remaining 43,073 also owed a balance on a loan to wonga, so their compensation has been used to clear or reduce that balance.
What happens next:
- the money should be paid within the next 4 weeks. This has come as a surprise as people had been told it would be paid by the end of January;
- the loans that are being refunded should be removed from your credit record in the next 6 weeks.
My comment – ripped off by Wonga and now let down by the regulators
The administrators told people they would get “significantly less” than that amount as there would not be enough money to pay the claims in full.
But many people will have been hoping for more than 4.3% and are very upset.
It is not the administrators’ fault there is so little money to be divided between so many people. It is the fault of the regulators – first the OFT and then the FCA – that they allowed Wonga to break the rules saying that affordability should be checked
And now the regulators have failed to ensure that these Wonga victims get the compensation they should have. When a PPI firm went under, the Financial Services Compensation Scheme stepped in and people with PPI claims got paid in full. But the FCA has not extended the FSCS to cover payday lenders.
This isn’t just a problem for the hundreds of thousands of Wonga victims. Borrowers from many payday lenders have been unable to get proper compensation after the lender has had to close. This will apply to QuickQuid, the money shop, Payday UK and Payday Express borrowers as well.
The FCA needs to rethink this and provide a safety net for people who were mis-sold unaffordable loans.
Readers comments – Shock and disappointment
This a brief overview of the hundreds of comments below this article.
Some people are happy to be getting anything:
- “I am only getting just shy of £25 but for the sake of completing a 30 second form it’s not too bad.”
- “I will be getting £79.93 of the £1854.17 I was owed. Better than nothing!”
- “£35 out of a possible £800. I wasn’t expecting much anyway. I’m more interested in having the 25 wonga loans removed from my credit file.”
The administrators had said people would get “significantly less” than the claim, but many people were hoping for at least 10%:
- “I got mine £88.67 – claim was £2057.05 – I was expecting at least a couple hundred.”
- “Claim was 3034, getting 130. By considerably less I didn’t think it would be over 95% of it. That is ridiculous.”
- “To receive £44.10 from a claim of £1023.00 is insulting to be honest.”
- “Owed £1499, getting £63…what an absolute joke!”
- “4.3% is an absolute disgrace. Although people are trying to be positive they shouldn’t have to. The people who made all the profit here would spend the biggest payout anyone has received on an evening out and not think twice about it.”
- “Gutted…. was hoping for at least the 10% speculated.”
This reader blamed not just Wonga but the regulators:
- “Over £11k accepted reduced down to £480 – my job, my marriage and 4 years of desperation followed by years of rebuilding my life – that’s what the regulators consider that to be worth! Shame on everyone involved in Wonga and the lack of regulation of lenders like them !”
Some are just are delighted that Wonga has gone under:
- “Heads up everyone…We have won in the end! They can no longer be a hindrance to any of us any more!”
- “Mines going to charity. Best thing to have happened is for them to have gone bust”
- ”Thank you Wonga you paid me to continue gambling, I lost everything. Good riddance.”
Many people are also disappointed and shocked that they aren’t being paid by the end of January. Some people getting these refunds are still in difficult financial circumstances and had planned to use the money to pay a bill or some debts.
February 2020 – some clarifications from the administrators
The remaining loans
The administrators have confirmed that no further payments are being accepted and the debts will not be sold to a debt collector. So you don’t have to worry about being taken to court or bailiffs.
But the debts are not technically being written off. They will remain on your credit record for 6 years from the default date on your credit record. If you don’t know what this date is, I suggest you check it now.
In practice, now the company in liquidation, if you contact a credit reference agency and say your Wonga debt is incorrect, you can ask the credit reference agency to “suppress” the record as Wonga can no longer say what the right entry should be. See How to correct credit records if the lender has gone under for details.
No deductions are being made for tax
The Administrators have said:
“the Joint Administrators have agreed with HMRC that the payment may be treated for tax purposes as set wholly against the interest and fees element first, and statutory interest second. As a result, where the distribution paid by the administrators to each customer does not exceed the interest and fees claimed by them, no withholding tax will be required to be deducted at source from payments made by the administrators in such cases.”
The simple version of this is:
- the administrators are not taking off any tax.
- there will, therefore, be no tax to have to reclaim.
- the vast majority of people will not have to pay any tax on any part of of the refund even if you are a higher rate taxpayer. The amounts don’t have to be declared if you complete an annual tax return eg if you are self-employed.
A small number of extra payments
A small number of customers were owed money by Wonga for a different reason, for example they may have overpaid on a loan. These extra amounts are also being paid out and you will get 4.3% of them too.
If you were not using a claims company, you should have received a single email at the end of January which mentions both amounts.
If you were using a claims company you should have received two emails, each about one of the amounts. If you have only received one email and it mentions a claim which is smaller than the amount you expected, you can contact the administrators, it may be this is the “extra” payment.
Bank account issues
I asked the Administrators why some people are still getting emails asking them to update their bank details. They say:
These emails will be in response to customers’ requests received by the Customer Care team prior to 29 January 2020 providing a secure method by which customers can update their bank account details. Customers should respond to these emails.
I asked the Administrators what will happen if they make a payment and it bounces back to them because the account is no longer open. They say:
Where updated information is available from customers we will attempt to reprocess bounced dividend payments via electronic transfer. Alternatively, we will issue a cheque to the address held on file.
A blogger contacted the Administrators on the 14th February to ask why she hadn’t been paid and was told:
“I can confirm that the joint administrators have commenced distribution of dividend payments to unsecured creditors, including those with redress claims. Given the volume of transactions that need to now take place, the administrators cannot guarantee an exact date when individuals will receive payment but are aiming to complete transactions within the next two weeks.”
February and March – payments started but with problems
I was told by the Administrators on Friday 28th February that 90%+ of payments have been made and they expect to make the rest of payments over the next two weeks by BACS. About 22,000 the following week, about 13,000 the week after. It looks as though the 22,000 group got their money. It’s not clear to me how many of the 13,000 group have.
Many people in the comments below this article were reporting probems. These included people whose bank accounts had never changes. Problems included:
- confusion over whether a claims company has been paid or they will be;
- Wongasaid payment was sent to a claims firm that hadn’t been used;
- Wonga said a cheque was sent to a house you no longer live it;
- Wonga said a payment has been made to your bank account but it hasn’t arrived ;
- Wonga has said a payment was sent to an old bank account despite new bank account details having been given and co0nfirmed as having been received.
On 2 March the Administrators said the payment process was taking longer than expected and payments would continue to about 40,000 people over the next 2 weeks:
The Joint Administrators have now attempted to make dividend payments to over 410,000 creditors… In addition to the payments that were not made we have had approximately 40,000 payments returned to us due to incorrect customer bank details recorded on file with Wonga. We will now begin contacting these customers whose payments were returned, by email, to obtain correct and up-to-date bank account details.
The dividend payment process is taking longer than anticipated and payments will continue to be paid during the next two weeks.
On 19 March the Admistrator’s announced:
The Joint Administrators have now attempted to make dividend payments to over 443,000 creditors representing 98% of the creditor population. This includes payments to creditors whose payments were briefly held back from the initial payment phase whilst additional validation checks were completed to new bank account and/or address details that were provided. The Joint Administrators now continue to focus on the remaining small population of unpaid dividends in order to complete the payment process.
From here on progress was very slow, impeded by lockdown.
End August 2020 – administration ends – do you still have a problem?
Have you not been paid?
The Administrators final report blames the payment problems of Wonga’s poor systems and on creditors who did not update their bank details when requested to. But as many comments below detail, people who had never changed their bank account or who had updated their bank details several times and had each confirmed also experienced prolonged delays.
At 28 Auguest when the administration ended, there were still c 49,000 payments with a total value of £632,000 that had not been made – an average about of £13 per payment. About 70% of these were for amounts owed before the administration, so not affordability complaints.
The Administrators have passed the £632,000 to the Insolvency Service. If any creditors want to claim an unpaid amount, they should email CustomerServicesEAS@Insolvency.gov.uk.
A problem with your credit record
If there is a problem with your credit record then you now need to contact the Credit Reference Agency where the problem is showing – Experian, Equifax or TransUnion. Say you can no longer get an answer from the administrators as the firm has been dissolved so you would like the CRA to “suppress” the credit records (list them) as they are inaccurate.
This problem could have been an error by the administrators, who failed to delete the record. It could be an error by Wonga before the administration: the loan date or balance or default date is wrong – you want the default date to be as early as possible so it drops off sooner – or Wonga may have failed to add a default date.
If the CRA refuses, send the CRA a formal complaint and this can be sent to the Financial Ombudsman. In practice people are getting these sorted with the CRAs without having to go to the ombudsman.

Hi sara, was wondering if satsuma could go into administration, but provident still continue to operate their vanquis and door step brands, or would they all fail together, I’m being hypothetical, as this is not happening, but was wondering, you know because they drag everything out with the ombudsman with their exaggerated tactics.
Many thanks
Sara (Debt Camel) says
If you look at the FCA register, you will see that provident doorstep lending and Satsuma are both brand names of the same authorised firm: https://register.fca.org.uk/ShPo_FirmDetailsPage?id=001b000000p2Hb2AAE.
Vanquis operates under a different legal entity and authorisation: https://register.fca.org.uk/ShPo_FirmDetailsPage?id=001b000000MfNmZAAV

With regards to the criteria for upheld claims, who decided this. Was it Grant Thornton or the Ombudsman? My claim was partially upheld due to having borrowed extensively month after month for years. Having just had a new born I spent the night up feeding and took the opportunity go back through my borrowing with Lending Stream. After constructing a snazzy spreadsheet the interest paid totals over £9000. I have used one of your templates to lodge a complaint, but fully expect it to be rejected and have to take it to the ombudsman.
Like many on this site I’m eagerly awaiting that elusive percentage. However probably more comforting was being able to relate to so many experiences that others have shared. Sleepless nights soaking with sweat, not answering the door or phone calls. Notions to end it all. Thankfully now I am in a much better place. But if anyone still feels like this I implore you to seek help. The embarrassment and stigma attached to admitting to having been foolish enough to having been sucked in by these companies should be abated by the fact so many others did the same. You are not alone, and people will understand.
Sara many thanks for everything you do here, a phenomenal effort!
Sara (Debt Camel) says
GT have tried to mimic what the Ombudsman may decide. It can’t be exact.
Michelle says
Hi
I just filed a lending stream complaint too. I’m expecting them to come back at me with a request for dates and references of the loans but mine were over maybe 4 years and the last one paid off in 2013 so if upheld there’s quite a bit of interest to go on.
Anyway I’ve set aside a day to go through all my statements but they have all that in their records they just like to make it hard and hope you go away 😩
Sara (Debt Camel) says
they have to send you a list of the loans, not the other way around.
Miss Partridge says
Lending stream paid out last week. They initially refuted my claim and asked me to provide evidence. I was planning to get back to them later when lo and behold, another email arrived detsiling all the loans that didnt meet the affordability criteria. Then they offered me the money. I said yes. The process with lending stream took less than 8 weeks.
Michelle says
That’s encouraging! I’ve been checking all my correspondence with them and I defaulted on my first loan but three months later they gave me another – and another – and another for several years with defaults every now and then. I can’t see how they have a case when they kept loaning to someone who kept defaulting! The interest on the first two loans (as far as I’ve got with my checking) was £1200!
Claire says
For you ref, Lending Stream rejected my claim first time round .. I then took it to the Financial Ombudsman and won, so definitely worth perusing
Will says
I also went to FOS against lendingstream after they rejected and won.
Jo says
Just spoken to a really nice guy at Grant Thornton. (Don’t bother ringing the Wonga ‘helpline’ people, as they won’t pick up).
GT chap confirmed that everyone owed will be emailed the total they are due at some point tomorrow (29th January).
Hope this helps.
Kat says
Thanks for this believe it when I see it, but hey ho it will happen at some point. 😆. Makes you wonder if anybody has actually received an email yet. x
Heather says
Where did you get the number for GT I e been trying to get Wonga on the phone for days with no success. They have still not sent me the email to upload my new back details even though I have emailed them about 10 times requesting it.
Andy says
That’s good news then Jo, thank you. 😀
Let’s hope the payouts start to appear relatively rapidly after the mail too (same day would be nice but that may be wishful thinking! No harm in thinking though!)
The % is I hope higher than people’s “worst fears” too, but all said and done it’s a case of “it is what it is”
I’ve consigned my thoughts to it being a number I picked quite a while back now so it will be vaguely interesting (to me st least lol) to see how far out I was. I’ve -never- posted this number or how I guesstimated it in public – it’s more a case for me of using that to inject some positive into it all to see how wrong I was, either way!
Mark says
I spoke to them too unfortunately he couldn’t and wouldn’t confirm when the payments would be made. Sounds like 2moro will just be an amount and a date for somewhere along way off?
Mark says
Hi, wondering if many people have been in my situation. I had a bad gambling problem and to help fund it borrowed over many years (10-15) around 30-40k from bad credit and payday loan companies. I am awaiting the Wonga’s email but have borrowed from many more that have been mentioned. What is the best way to claim back from them if I can??
Sara (Debt Camel) says
For payday lenders, read https://debtcamel.co.uk/payday-loan-refunds/ and use the template there and use the comments below that article for questions about reclaiming from payday lenders.

What other bad credit companies did you use?
Mark says
Hi Sara,
Lending Stream, Quick Quid, Ferratum, dot dot loans, money box, my jar, bamboo loans and I am sure some others. Will get CK credit check to get them all.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Lending Stream, Ferratum, dot dot loans, my jar – all via the normal payday loan page
QuickQuid – see https://debtcamel.co.uk/quickquid-casheuronet-administration/
Moneybox – in administration email customer.services@247moneybox.com with a short email saying you wish to make a claim for unaffordable loans.
Bamboo – see https://debtcamel.co.uk/refunds-large-high-cost-loans/
Dan says
All this Wonga fiasco has taught me is to actually get my claims in early! In 2018 I had to sell our house as we were over £40k in debt and we had £50k equity in our house. I spent the whole weekend going through all old pay day loans / credit cards for unfair charges and unaffordable
Loans. So far in under 2 days I have already been paid a goodwill payment and been told I will get some interest back. I think if I went to the FOS I would get more but I’m happy with a bit of something. I’m confident more of these companies will go under. So I beg anyone who is in financial difficulty or that has been to make these claims ASAP. It’s too easy when you are sinking in debt to just “ give up” . Keep your head held high – these companies have wronged a lot people. Here’s to getting some “ Wonga “ £££ back this week :)
Ms B says
I’m the same Dan I wish I’d done this earlier I tried with Wonga in 2016 (my loans were in 2011) and they rejected my claim I should’ve gone to the ombudsman 🙈 the next thing was I got an email from the administrators after they collapsed (my complaint must’ve still been on file ) saying I was owed £3,600 so really anything I get back now will be better than nothing but it still hurts that I potentially could’ve got the lot if I’d gone to the ombudsman originally
Sallly says
What is gt telephone number
Stephen Ford says
Has anybody dealt with safetynet ? And how they work intrest because i was using them for nearly three years and they said is only paid £200 intrest when each loan was for like £300-£400 and even though i had to get a loan same day they upped my limit every week
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Sounds odd but please ask this on the payday loan refund page https://debtcamel.co.uk/payday-loan-refunds/ not this one.
Annonymous says
I put in a claim through Resolver to Safety net – they came back really quickly and offered me £1,500 – I had to decide quickly if I wanted to accept and money was in my account within 2 days. It made me think I would likely get more if I went to ombudsman but as I expected to get nothing I happily accepted. I didn’t even use them for that long, lending Stream on the other hand are dragging their feet. My Wonga redress is approx £8,500 but not holding out for much of a refund.
Stacey Cornes says
I got mine completely wiped off and got £80 back. My outstanding was 1300
Ik says
Yes I had.Just send them email complaints@safetynetmail.co.uk and say that you want a put claim in for unfordable loan.I got the respons back in 1 day.Email them from your email address what’s registered on your safetynet account.
Darren says
Hi I only got one email saying what I’m owed haven’t recieved any more emails after that does this mean I wont receive any payout now as alot of ppl are saying they’ve had email asking for b/c details or to confirm their b/c details.
Nicola says
I am the same I never got email about bank details but email last year saying how much I was owed. ( I no it will be lass). We should still get payout. If you not changed your bank details don’t worry mne are still the same
Jonathan Adam says
Just curious. Do Grant Thornton have a set time to pay us out by after the percentage is revealed or could this go on for months?
Andy says
I cannot see any reason to hold back sending payments out, probably in large batches, but I am not familiar if there are any specific banking rules with this with it being Administration dealing with it.
I guesss all I mean is I cannot fathom why they would delay longer than needed. Unaware if there is specific legislation to compel them but I would be surprised (honestly) if I had no money or the email did not explain any possible cause for delay by the end of the month.
Lynne says
I thought because of the two month extension that they got (ie payout in 4 months not 2), that that was the maximum amount of time allowed without them having to go to court again? In other words they have to stump up by the end of this week!
Michelle says
Though if the reason for a delay is the sale of an asset that will increase the % I’m fine with that
Timbouk says
Just read this which actually quotes this website but not real information and once again getting hopes up that the payout maybe at least 10%.

I did read that earlier but the (at the time) solitary comment that was posted disgusted me so much I marked it “down” and closed the page. I’ll not repeat what it suggested.

When Wonga first went into administration I was in the process of about to get a mortgage as my case had been decided in my favour at FOS so I knew there were all coming off my credit record. But as we know I didn’t get a penny and they were left on. I contacted the money expert of a paper won’t say which and he wrote a very neutral piece and had experts give me advice but omg the comments there were hundreds. Hard not to take it personally, I was horrified! but I’m Sure we have all learnt not to judge anybody in life given the struggles we have all faced ,so in a way we are better off! Experience makes you wise.
Takethatmad says
It says ” complainants could get back less than 10 per cent”. 1% is less so not really getting anyones Hope’s up..
Alastair says
So taking £460,000,000 and dividing by £45,000,000 gives us a pretty precise % of 9.8%. So relax everyone, tomorrow we will find that each of us will receive roughly 10% of our allowed claim. My claim was around £3,500 so £350 will be welcomed as I never expected anything really.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
EXCEPT the 460M could be a lot more. And the 45M could be less or could be more. Those numbers were before all the claims had been received, let alone assessed. And before they knew what some foreign assets could be sold for.
Takethatmad says
So true. Nothing we can do now. We will see when we are all emailed. :)
Alex says
Hi everyone,
Please be careful regarding emails etc over the coming days. This forum is great but on the other hand very public. Unfortunately there are people out there who will gladly try to take advantage of our desperation and know we are expecting emails in the coming days. Take care and check throughly before you click any links or enter personal details when any emails come through.
Although email addresses are kept private on this site, there was an issue some years ago when scammers sent blanket emails out to o2 customers, they knew that most were not customers but relied on some of them that were to enter details.

It’s really inspiring to read a lot of the stories today so here is mine…. I was in my final year of a professional degree but I had to give up my part time job as the course became very demanding. It started there, I graduated and had a low paid nhs training post for a year but living costs & expenses were really high. From that payday loans started, bank loans, very catalogue and credit cards just to meet my living costs at the end of the month. I wasn’t gambling, drinking or living the high life. I was even buying iPads on credit with catalogues and selling them at huge loss just to repay the interest on monthly payday loans!. Bizarrely my credit score was great because I never missed payments but I was a expert juggler. In the end I found this site one night unable to sleep in 2017 and realised the only way I could move on was to stop borrowing. I won all my cases with payday loans & car finance. Stopping borrrowing and the cycle was the key and then I could address the other debts . I’m now debt free It too two years of being tough and budgeting. It nice to be able to live a normal life without fear and worry and juggling.Got over £16k back so whatever I get from Wonga and my figure was 5 numbers will go towards buying a handbag in the sales to remind me what it’s like to carry the weight of worry on your shoulders. Hope everyone struggling faces up to their problems, don’t let pride ruin your life. Thanks a million again Sara for all your pointers over the years

I’m in the same situation. I was at university, borrowing from payday loans such as Wonga etc just to pay for my university needs such as a laptop for the course I was on etc. Even getting very phones to trade in for cash to pay off debt!
I had to hide all my debts from my parents, dreaded the letters coming through, even when I left home I thought I was safe, but then the letters started coming and had to confess to my partner about this secret i was hiding from him for a couple of years.
I’m two months off from being debt free, and seeing Wonga come to justice is cherry on the cake!
Enjoy whatever you may get everyone :)
Hel says
I also did the Very phone thing! Selling for cash:/
Makes me feel so relieved I’m not alone.
It’s only in the last couple of years I’ve managed to get myself out of that cycle, but I’ll be paying back my debts for years to come.
Laura says
Hel it doesn’t matter how long the path takes, it matters that you are on it. You will get there and I wish you all the best in journey to being debt free
Laura says
Amazing that your so close to the end. It’s absolutely been a learning curve. I will never forget the dread and panic but the plus side is I’m A much more empathetic and patient person now. You never know what others are going through. All the best!

Good luck everyone for Wonga Wednesday!

Does anyone else feel like it’s Christmas Eve 😬😂
Mandy says
No! I’m waiting for my worst fears to materialise and to be told sorry you’re owed thousands but getting nothing because we’ had run out of money by the time we got to you! 🙈🙈 x
Joanne says
Yep fingers crossed everyone 🤞
Paul says
Folks…will some of you pls calm down with your tone of comments to others whom may have posted a comment that may not suit your own narrative. Yes….whilst you may be certain, like others, that the percentage is not known, it hardly will hurt you just to let someone less informed post a comment that may even carry speculation. For some people, this is the only place they can actually voice their opinion as these loans are not something any of us are proud about. if anything, we are altogether in this….and certain ppl’s predicaments will be different to others….so be tolerant pls…and understand that whilst the payout might be just a formality to you….it may be the highlight of another persons week/month. no harm done by the odd person expressing a hope….whether unfounded or not.

Well said Paul. Any of us that got involved with Wonga must of been living in hope more than anything. I’ve been doing the same two lottery lines for five years. I’ve got £25 back so far. I just hope i get more back from Wonga😋

After what has seemed a lifetime, here we all are, 24/48hrs aways from knowing. Look how far we have come.
Good luck to everyone.
I cannot end without shouting out to Sara. I accidentally came upon this site about a year ago and it has been my lifeline.
Sara, if you only knew how you have touched people’s lives.
I will always be grateful to you for helping me to turn my life round and be debt free.
Thank you again.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Thanks AQ.
Simon says
I’d also like to say a huge thanks to Sara! She has been a great help and prompted me to claim for loans by sunny around the same time.
I Hope everyone gets at least enough to have a celebratory drink and maybe also claim against some others that lent in a similar way and get something bigger back for a rainy day!
Mandy says
Hi everyone like the majority of you I got sucked in by many payday loan companies including Wonga it got to a point where all my monthly wage was going to pay them off so I would be frantically applying for a new loan with each company to see me through the month! My husband knew nothing of this so I was living in fear as I got further and further into debt! I’ve had notification from another 2 I think saying I’m owed compensation but these don’t look as though they will be paid out until spring at least!
Nick says
I hope that you have made complaints Mandy. I was in the same situation as you & have already been successful in getting redress from MyJar & Sunny. (Nearly £3000 in total). Two other companies are with the ombudsman to look at. I was living on payday loans for nearly three years!
Mandy says
I was so embarrassed Nick I turned to Payplan as my debts with these sharks had got out of hand and the trouble is they were passed to debt collectors and I don’t know who’s who anymore. Two of them did actually write to me like wonga so I’ve another two claims going but I know there’s one with Lending Stream, quick quid, and Swift Sterling I’ve heard nothing from them?
Caroline says
Hi,
Is it likely that after this is all finished the Wonga loans (paid) that show on credit reports will be wiped off? Thank you
Sara (Debt Camel) says
The loans that are being refunded should be deleted. No timescale, I am hoping in February.
Caroline says
Ah excellent news thank you! I’m more bothered about removing the negative loan marks than any kind of payout tbh. Although I have now emailed the other pdl’s I used with your fab template. Many thanks! And Good luck everyone! 😊
Jamie Penfold says
I don’t understand how people know how much they are getting back before the percentage! I have received every email bar this one. Am I the only one?
Devon1986 says
If you’re expecting £2,000 and % is released as 1% you’ll get £20. You just work it out.
Laura says
Did you not get a email saying your claim was upheld or partially upheld? It was calculated on that, showing your accepted figure although we all know that’s not what it will be before anyone adds that !
Sam says
Don’t worry about it. People don’t actually know. They are guessing.
Jamie says
No, I have never had a figure just the email saying we will send out figures etc at the end of January! Some people are saying they have already received this?
Laura says
No people are talking about their redress figure which was sent in the email saying claim was upheld. Have you not had that?
dee says
Any else one had the email from Wonga again about bank accounts today?
AMIGO LOANS says
AMIGO LOANS HAS JUST BEEN PUT UP FOR SALE. Google it if you don’t believe me sara
Sara (Debt Camel) says
I was quoted in the BBC article about it yesterday: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51266079
Abi says
Is this the same as administration? Does this jeopardise our Complaints? Xx
Sara (Debt Camel) says
NO. It only affects who the shareholders are, the company is continuing in business. It has no effect on complaints
Luke Jobson says
Hi, do you think it’s worth complaining as I got a loan whilst with Stepchange? During application i got asked for no evidence of wage etc.
A says
I did comment to say amigo will be looking for a way out nearly a week ago ….
V says
Can this effect claims with Amigo? I have just submitted mine today
Sara (Debt Camel) says
no it won’t affect claims
Rebecca says
Sara I have a loan with amigo and I currently don’t work, stopped working when I had my son, life got hard applied for amigo with my brother got accepted, I’ve had two top ups and don’t think I can afford the loan anymore. What I’m asking is would it be worth me sending them an email? What happens if I do? Does it go against me? Just some more advice would be appreciated
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Hi Rebecca, can you read https://debtcamel.co.uk/how-to-complain-guarantor-loan/. There’s lots of info there and lots of chat in the comments below. Guarantor loans are a horrible product, very stressful, and lots of people are currently winning complaints, getting the interest removed, their guarantor is released and they can repay any remaining money at an affordable rate. If you had these loans when you weren’t working you may have a good case!
Jackie says
I have also just read about this. I am caught up with this rip off company a £7500 loan costing me over £17800 that’s over £10000 in interest. I was not aware I would pay so much back, the apr is ment to be 49 percent, I just didn’t understand what I was getting myself into x
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Read https://debtcamel.co.uk/how-to-complain-guarantor-loan/ as this explains about complaints against Amigo. A lot of these are being won, so if the loan is causing you hardship then you may well have a very good affordability complaint.
Jackie says
Thank you Sara I will have a read x
Emma says
Just after advise I received an email end of sept advising what my claim was worth but that it be extremely lower. On 14th Nov I had another email about the claim and confirming the last 4 digits of my account which are still the same so I didnt do anything further as advised in the email.
But now I’m reading on here about a 2nd email about bank details going out start of jan, does this mean I wont be getting anything back regardless of how little??
Thanks
Sara (Debt Camel) says
no , you don’t need to do anything if your bank account is the same.
Sarah says
Received an email at 17.34 this evening stating that they have received my supporting documents and have updated my bank details. Finally! One step further. I uploaded my documents on Thursday last week
Chloe says
Like everyone else I am patiently waiting to see what I will receive from Wonga. I came across this site on Sunday and read that some of you have used resolver, tonight I submitted 5 cases via this site, which I wouldn’t have even known existed if it wasn’t for stumbling across this page.
Len says
Do we know exactly when payments will be received ?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
No
Len says
But didn’t they say by 30th? Or will it be soon after email tomorrow ?
Jay D says
No email that I have recieved has mentioned any dates. Simply said end of January.. tomorrow is still only the 29th, you might even get the email on the same day payments come through which we have been told is the end of January. The other thing is that I think payments will start being made by the end of January, they have to process hundreds of thousands of payments, even with an automated system I can’t see this happen in one day so we may well see them into February.
Debbie says
Third party reference:
The Joint Administrators have assessed your claim and can confirm that it has been partially accepted. Your assessed claim amount is explained in the table below. A full breakdown of your loan history can be found at the end of this email.
Please be patient with us in respect of your payment. Payments will be made once all claims have been received and assessed. All claims must be submitted by 30 September 2019 and we expect to have made a payment to successful claimants by 30 January 2020.
Len says
Thanks Debbie , I knew I had seen it somewhere!
Jo says
Hi I’m still trying to get a link to change my bank details as they have my old bank account which now closed . I’ve emailed wonga several times and called them about 6 times but still no response . What happens if they attempt to pay into a closed bank account ?
Mandy says
I had the same issue and I just logged into my Wong’s account and changed my personal details I then received an email thanking me for informing them of my change of bank account. The email that went out on 10th January was to tell me what account they held on file for redress payment to go into
Jo says
Hi Mandy have you been able to log into your account since jan 10th ? I haven’t used wonga account for a few years and can’t seem to find anywhere to log in . Thanks
Mandy says
Sorry Jo just seen your reply I’ve not been into my Wonga account since changing my details so just tried now and there’s not log in button anymore! If a payment is attempted into a closed account it will bounce back to the sender. If you go to Wonga website there is an option to contact them I’d try that and explain they hold the wrong bank details
Andy says
Jo, I’m not sure but if the old bank cannot be 100% sure they can move the funds to the new bank (like a forwarding thing if they even do that) then the payment gets rejected and returned to the Wonga Administration.
There will no doubt be quite a few failed payments for a variety of reasons and they will of anticipated it .
Jo says
Hi Andy thanks for commenting , I’ve contacted my old bank and they said the money will not be accepted into my account and the sender of money will be notified of this.
Dawn says
I just wanted to say a big thanks to everyone here. Like you all I’ve been eagerly awaiting the wonga email. However, I have taken the time to read through all of the comments on here. As a result, I have blocked myself from any gambling site for six months, and I have put claims in to the many other companies I borrowed from 🙈. Thank you all for the advice in this thread. I feel better already x
Sara (Debt Camel) says
I hope this is the start of a much better 2020 for you – well done for taking that important first step.
Bev says
Dawn, I did the same and blocked myself from a gambling site a couple of years ago. And have not gone back on any since then. From first finding this site last year I put a claim in with Quick Quid and got a quick response and a good outcome. I feel better about things now aswell and am in a better place😊
Dan says
Blocking yourself is certainly the way forward because of this thread I have submitted claims to lending stream, dot dot and satsuma so soon see how they go thanks everyone
Alex says
I know it’s close to actually hearing what the % and nothing can be done – but out of curiosity, just how do they find themselves in position to only pay out 1-3% (if that is the case) Just how high does the amount of September claims need to be Vs the lack of revenue gained within the same period to knock the % down this low?
When did they start wrapping up trying to claim loans back? When the portal closed?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
They closed the portal at end September. the problem isn’t the revenue from loan collection during the period it’s the huge unknown of what they sold some foreign assets for.
They only stopped collecting from loans in December, after they had offered people with outstanding loans a settlement offer to maximise revenue.
Alex says
Ahh, ok. Was the £45m quoted earlier in the year (where the 10%) rumour emerged before or after any sales of overseas interests? I’m just wondering how far off the mark they might have been? GT have been quite clear they are going try and maximise how much the generate for creditors.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
read the last Administrtor’s progress report for the details: https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/06374235/filing-history

Wonga Poland was sold for 97 million PLN (roughly 19 million pounds). It was all over the news in Poland, surprised it didn’t make the news here.

I guarantee that when/if the percentage is released tomorrow there will be endless people phoning the Administrative staff giving them abuse like it is their fault..
Sara (Debt Camel) says
I hope not :(

Jack says
I’ve had an accepted claim and I’m waiting for any sort of payout like the rest of you. What I’m not sure on is what they’re paying out for? To be more specific, I used them for roughly 8 years however nothing in the past maybe 7 months. I paid everything back in time over the years. Why is it they’re saying they’ll give me money back now? Is it due to the horrific APR they used?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
The payouts are for unaffordable lending.
These loans were only supposed to be used for a short term emergency.
As you used them for years, Wonga should have realised that you had become reliant on their loans and stopped lending, because repaying one loan was leaving so short you had to borrow again.
Janice says
I have been expecting an email today but nothing I uploaded my documents but have heard nothing dont know if they have them or not will just have to see what happens
Jo says
Hi Janice was it your bank details you uploaded and how did you do this ? Did you log into your account or was it a link you received from wonga ? I’m trying to change my bank details but cannot get any response from wonga .
Janice Redding says
I got a link from wonga which asked me to upload my passport and bank details which I did but heard nothing after
Jo says
Me too sent my name change with a photo of my passport but no reply
Brian says
Been lurkering on here for over a few months watching the updates etc
Had a wonga account when i was 18 and was in continuous debt as would lend.. get paid and pay back… be skint and lend more .. etc etc
Total value has been accepted at 1400 and had all the emails people on here are talking about. Just waiting to see what sort of percentage is dealt out like all of yourselves
I have seen a few posts also mentioning other forms of payday loan
Up until earlier this year i had SafetyNetCredit with a 2k debt ive had over 2 years and finally paid of in April with a tax return. However this had interest of 50 every 2 weeks making paying back next to impossible
Ive also had a number of The Money Shop and QuikQuid loans too. Aswell as a Provident loan when i was 18. All of which left me in a bad position as an unemployed 18 year old who was gambling and drinking beyond my means.
Is there any way to submit affordibility claims to the above companies?
My credit is now all up to date. Just waiting on a few defaults to fall off and hopefully my score will start climbing more.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot and good luck with the % issued from wonga
Sara (Debt Camel) says
yes, but there are different templates for the different lenders:
Safetynet Credit – see https://debtcamel.co.uk/payday-loan-refunds/ – that is the standard payday loan refund page
Provident – https://debtcamel.co.uk/refund-doorstep-loans/
Money shop – put a claim in using the Claims page linked to in here https://debtcamel.co.uk/money-shop-to-close-two-million-customers-will-be-informed/
Quick Quid – claims page will be put up in a couple of months https://debtcamel.co.uk/quickquid-casheuronet-administration/
Just deal with these one by one. It’s not as complicated as it may seem, after you have done the first the rest will seem easy even if the letter/claim page is slightly different. For further questions, ask in the comments below the relevant page as other people making those complaints will read them.
Andrew F says
I’ve just been informed that intrum UK have run 7 hard search’s on my credit report but I don’t have any accounts with them and my debt is managed by Payplan, would these search’s have anything to do with Wonga payout because that’s the only thing that’s changing on my credit situation?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
no I don’t think it can be Wonga-related.
Tanya says
Weirdly, I got the same alert from Credit Karma yesterday and I don’t have any unmanaged debt. It’s a bit alarming.
Scott P T says
I assume that most posts on here are from the UK. Which makes me wonder, does Wonga have to pay out to just UK customers or will the dividend have to stretch worldwide? Did they have interests abroad?
Michelle says
They do. It’s only the UK though that have claims. I believe they have sold the foreign concerns which is partly why they’ve not been able to give us a percentage- they didn’t know what they’d get for those assets
Scott P T says
Thank you. Very informative. 🙂
Eann Mcinnes says
Hi has anyone on here submitted a claim for a company call loans 2go of log book loans?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Some people have. Read https://debtcamel.co.uk/refunds-large-high-cost-loans/ and use the template in that article.
Xarra says
I’ve had a few loans with Lending Stream… Is it worth putting in a claim?
Would it stop me using them again in a crisis type situation?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Well getting back some money could give you the cash to get you through an emergency! I suggest you look at how many loans you had from them and think if the repayments couased you a lot of problems.
Steve says
From what I can gather there are a few people on here who have had a gambling problem and probably need to look at themselves first and foremost. I don’t feel sorry for anyone who makes life hard for themselves by gambling, drinking or taking drugs. I feel sorry for their loved ones who suffer through no fault of their own. I wish you luck though.
Graeme says
I don’t think many people choose to have a problem, be it a drinking problem, gambling problem or otherwise. In this day and age mental health issues and dependencies are being understood more than ever.
Adam says
What a judgemental and heartless thing to say, “probably need to look at themselves”. Addiction affects people in many ways regardless whether it be the individual or the loved ones. Comments like this don’t encourage people to seek help, instead it makes them feel worse about themselves. I would kindly recommend sticking to the subject about resolving issues and the whole process this page is based on instead of singling people out.
Sean says
Completely unhelpful comment to anybody that is aimed at.
Ant says
Steve
Unfair for you to judge until you understand circumstances, the problems you mentioned can be caused by all kind of problems , bereavement, job loss, brake down in marriage etc, non of us are perfect Steve. Anyone experiencing any of these problems you are not alone, keep strong .
Mandy says
I don’t think anyone sets out to make life hard for themselves intentionally! I have never suffered through either drugs or gambling but through spending money I don’t have! So I guess I’m as bad as those you’ve condemned but just remember one thing everyone who’s got themselves into a mess financially didn’t do it because they could but because they were probably experiencing the crap life throws at you too embarrassed to turn to the loved ones that you feel sorry for because they’re probably ashamed at the mess they’ve made of their lives and don’t want to become a burden.
I imagine those that get hooked on gambling started it as a way to get out of debt! It’s a vicious circle one that if you’ve never been in can’t comment!
Timka says
This is very nicely said! I got into a debt I am still repaying trying to keep up with the lifestyle of my ex boyfriend as I was too ashamed to tell him I can’t afford to do the things he wanted us to do. I felt if I did not go with the flow, he would judge me or dump me. Sad but true. I think and act completely different now but the damage has been done.
Stephen says
Nobody come here asking for you to feel sorry for them , nobody intentionally makes life hard for themselves sometimes lifes hard to them , and its an escape , until you know each and every single persons story then you cant be so judgemental
Hurry_Up_Wonga says
No one is asking for your judgement dude
Jimbo says
Lets hope you never have a gambling, drink or drug problem then…
I’d not want you to ever have to realise how daft your statement is.

I must be the only one on here that’s confused about people’s ideas that money will be in their accounts this week. The email states we will be told how much dividend we will receive at the end of January. It does not say payment will be paid at that time.
It then goes in to say the payment will be considerably smaller and paid into our account. But once again, does not suggest that it will be at the end of January.
I hope I’m going to be incorrect, but I think people are interpreting the email incorrectly..
Graeme says
From email dated 13/11/2019:
‘When we are in a position to make a payment to customers, expected to be at the end of January 2020, we will make an electronic payment (bank transfer) to the last known bank details held on Wonga’s system. Please find included below the last 4 digits of your account number.’
From email dated 08/05/2019:
‘It is expected, unless you receive a notification to the contrary, that the Joint Administrators will make a payment to accepted claimants within four months of 30 September 2019, i.e. by 30 January 2020.’
Philippa says
My email clearly states “payment will be made by 30th January 2020”
smiley says
i am still up WAITING for this email. Gonna go bed now (probably/definitely/absolutely)
Karen says
Lol I went to bed but I keep waking up and checking it’s awful the anxiety of not knowing 😂
Lynne says
I suspect they’re only there 9-5 so it’ll be during the day probably
GimmeMyMoney says
It’s more than likely with 400k+ emails to be sent they aren’t being sent by a person. They’ll have been loaded onto an email system and will likely be sent in batches. So if someone gets an email at 10am and you don’t, it doesn’t mean it’s not coming through. Your email could literally arrive at any point in the day.
Tj says
Hi,
Who do I send the template letter to for quickquid etc?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
QuickQuid is in administration. If you come back in April there will be an easy page live to. Put in a Claim. See https://debtcamel.co.uk/quickquid-casheuronet-administration/ for al QQ news
Sal says
The problem is though if your priorities have been getting yourself back into full time employment as a lone parent, and told there’s zero benefit overlap to help towards even bus fares to get to work, a payday loan has offered a ‘lifeline’ till your 1st pay date easy to see it as the solution. Roll that on with built up charges and I ended up literally paying to borrow again for 4yrs! Its a horrible pit to climb back out of. It really is no incentive to get off benefits, but when you feel like you’ve got to work for self esteem and to set the example for your kids, what else can you do? So yes, I was a mug for borrowing but it’s not as easy to just say well we only have ourselves to blame. The odds are stacked against the poorest in society from the start whether that’s by ‘pay as you go electric/gas meters, paying an additional £1k’interest on a £300 washing machine (when you haven’t got a spare £50 to buy secondhand and no transport, to using pay day loans to literally keep a roof over your head. I cannot judge anyone else whose borrowed for whatever reason as we’re all in the same boat. It’s not even about compensation (however large/small) it’s about unscrupulous lenders milking the last penny people have in desperate situations being held to account for the billions they’ve made doing it.
Roxanne says
Totally agree with you..I was in the same situation, when you’re down to your last Penny and kids need busfare and dinner money your desperation drives you to these lenders, that’s when you get sucked into the vortex of debt. Absolutely awful and I’m still paying the price for it.

Last email i received was 10th november checking my bank details, they were correct have not heard a thing since i didn’t get the 10th January’s email
Laura says
I’ve copied this from Sara opening paragraph at the top of this page:
Wonga – Latest News about refunds
On 10 January 2020, the Wonga administrators started sending emails to some people who will be getting a refund to encourage them to check Wonga has the right bank account details to pay them:
You have said you already got this email on the 10th NOv so I wouldn’t worry
Paul says
Day three… no email, no money, well there’s a surprise!!! lol
Laura says
Never was it said it would be Monday again that was all hearsay. I, and a few others got notice of dividend disclosure on the portal but unfortunately our access has all been disabled, however point being it’s all set up to go. There is no point coming on giving at the “I told you so” it’s not helpful to many on here who are obviously very anxious about it all
Mo says
i took a loan from amigo loans and then a top up, i paid it for at least a year and then a top up. i missed one payment one month because i couldn’t pay it and they told me that i might be in a position that cannot repay and will take it from the guarantor who is my dad (who is not working).
[edited]
I believe at the time of taking out the loan i was not in a good position to make regular payments. Does anyone thing i have a right for the affordability claim against amigo loans.
Mo
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Hi Mo, I have shortened your very long comment as this isn’t the right place to discuss it. But YES you can make a complaint about affordability to Amigo, not because of what has happened after the last loan, but to say you couldn’t afford the loans when you were Given them. See https://debtcamel.co.uk/how-to-complain-guarantor-loan/ which explains how to do this.
Mo says
Thanks Sarah!

For all of the gamblers who’ve posted on here: you can sort things out. I’ve been affected since I was a teen, I’m 46 now. I’ve lost everything because of gambling: family, friends, house & job and have served time in prison too. I’m ashamed of what I’ve done and don’t blame payday loans but do agree that they should’ve looked at my affordability for lending to me over a 5 year period leading up to my sentencing. My advice would be: speak to somebody. Whether that’s a friend, family, the samaritans or gamblers anonymous. The weight being lifted off my shoulders was a massive relief but too late to make things right. I’m on license from prison now and can honestly say things are improving. I’m much better friends with my ex than previously (because I’m now honest), I see my kids and enjoy time with them and am self employed as a web developer. The payday loan refunds are helping me to clear my debts and hopefully this one will contribute in some way too.
Kat c says
Totally agree with you I too was a gambling addict for over 10 years and kept it from my family and friends until November 2018 when it all just got to much. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever had to do telling my partner and my son that I’d lost all our money, it was either come clean or I’d of commit suicide. To my surprise they where unbelievable understanding and helped me through it.
Laura says
Good for you Bert, really honest but positive sorry. Hope you continue on your journey moving forward and lessons learnt. All the best

I got the bank details email from Wonga last night, bit close to payout for my liking! fingers crossed everyone my payout is due tomorrow

Its just a waiting game now. We can all guess what the percentage will be. But will not know until we receive the email. And hopefully that will be soon

Hi, my approved amount with wonga is just under £2000k. Ive just realised I had other ‘duplicate’ amounts under different email addresses which helped me circumnavigate their system to get more loans. I dont think they have found these accounts as I didnt give the other 5 email addresses. Can they still find these old accounts and up the claim amount for me or is it too late ? has anyone else done this too and what happened ? I think I have this one many payday loans with other providers too. Thanks guys
Sara (Debt Camel) says
I’m sorry but it’s too late now.
Char says
Heyyy
Has anyone actually had a pay out as of yet? If no one has I cannot really see any of us receiving it tomorrow. I have emailed numerous times but no replies.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
No one has been paid & no one has been told the amount they will be getting.
Frankie says
Hi all, reading all these accounts is like looking into my own past. I built up numerous pay day loans, taking one to pay the other, opening a new bank account with an overdraft just to get from one month to the next. My life felt a mess, my marriage broke down, although this wasn’t because of the debt. I met a wonderful woman in 2012 and stopped the borrowing. We moved in together and then all the debt letters started coming through the door. I found out I also had a CCJ I had no idea about. I started contacting all the companies I owed money to and worked at clearing the debt. Fast forward to 2019, my credit score had improved so much that I was able to get good rates on credit cards with long term 0% APR offers. My borrowing is under 20% of my available. To top it all off, I have now been able to secure a mortgage and just bought my first house. My experian score is now 999. If someone had told me 6-7 years ago I would be in this position I would have laughed in their face. It can be done with will power and support. If I can do it, anyone can :) PS, anything back from Wonga will be a nice bonus and hopefully go towards a nice family holiday, the first foreign holiday in a long time.
Alan says
I imagine this board will light up after 9am with folks concerned that they haven’t had a payout amount email from the administrators – be very patient folks, with over 400k emails to be sent they probably wont all arrive in your inboxes today, but they will come, they will come:)
Ian says
I think today, assuming something comes out, we also need to be mindful not to give the Wonga staff and Grant Thornton grief. They have had over 400,000 claims, I believe, to work through alongside the other complex elements of the administration. I hope we all can let people do their jobs without harassment. When all is said and done, and noting the trauma PDL has caused people, the payment if and when it is made will be a helpful addition to peoples situations. There are many sad and even tragic stories on here and my heart goes out to you but today and for the next few days if necessary some restraint and respect would help all I am sure.
Georgina says
Hi, I’m trying to claim back from lending stream but have been told my loans are too old. I started borrowing in October 2013. Upon logging into my account they have deleted all loan history. Can I still make a claim?

Hey Sara. I’ve posted on a different thread regarding a peachy loan, they’re asking me for bank statements and pay slips which I cannot provide, any advice please? Also could you possibly email me so I can send you a screenshot of an email I’ve received from peachy as it’s absolutely shocking,
Also a massive massive thank you, you’re an actual angel, this site is the first time I’ve not felt alone in years, the first bit of light at the end. So thank you,
Good luck with the future to everyone here, thank you for sharing your stories they bring such comfort knowing I’m not alone in this, I naively thought I was the only one who could get into such a mess and have spent years lying and living in shame :-(

I have done the same with peachy and informed them i have not got this information to which they replied I’m under no obligation to provide it but if there is any info that would help my case to send that, I have had loans with peachy and numerous others for years, safetynet has been very quick and already after only 5 days deducted the interest from my remaing balance, sunny have said they have no case to answer im just waiting for the other companies now, I’m in a debt management plan with step change so any redress from my outstanding loans will just help me here by free quicker, hope you get there too it’s such a dark place to be in when you have no one to turn to.
Bill says
What email address did u contact safetynet on to make a complaint? The same one which is listed on this site on a different page? Thanks
Sara (Debt Camel) says
yes use that one.
lisa says
I used a website called resolver, but I also contact them through my safetynet account.

why are people expecting notifications today(29/01/20) thought notice/payout day was 30 and 31 jan respectfully
Barry says
Saw a few posts on here yesterday saying they spoke to get and confirmed we will get notification today of payout amount, but not date of actual payout.

A few people who contact at the administrators yesterday were told emails would be sent out today. As it’s only 8.45 there is still over 15hrs left of the day so people need to just get on with their day and accept that we will get an email when it is ready to be sent out.

we were being ripped off from the moment we electronically signed the loan agreements – we were all in such a tight spot at the time I guess that we didn’t really think about it
Paul O’Donnell says
Hi I put in a complaint to quickquid before they went into administration. Will I need to put in another complaint?
Thanks Paul
Sara (Debt Camel) says
probably not but this won’t be definite until the administrators give more details. Come back in April when the new claims page should be live.

How do some people know what their claim value is? I double checked all my emails but I cant find anything to say what my value is. I know we will get the percentage value some time this week but does that mean some people have got that email already?
Dale Cannon says
I got mine in August last year but it went to my junk mail
MommaR says
I’m the same!
Checked my emails too,and nowhere has it gave me a claim value, and the emails said I have accepted a claim value but the pay out will be considerably smaller!
Smaller then what? I wasn’t given a figure to start with? 😂
Any amount will come in handy this time of year to be honest, but like you say, weird how some people have been given a rough figure already 🤔
Maire says
Hello Ryan I got my first letter with what my accepted claim amount was the backend of last year
Ryan says
i must have missed an email somewhere, got a separate folder for Wonga. I’ll look forward to the surprise when it drops. I know my claim value will be pretty high was in a viscous circle for 3 or 4 maybe even 5 years full wages going out then reapplying for max loan for 30 days again.
MommaR says
Anyone else refreshing their emails every 5 minutes 👀🤣🤣
Wish I hadn’t seen the comment about the % email arriving today in here yesterday now, I’m obsessed with checking and it’s only 10am! 🤣
I’m just going to go with Friday again as I thought it would be 31st anyway,I’m thinking the person was told that on the phone as they probably had a high volume of calls asking the exact same question and wanted to just shut people up for a bit,but who knows🤷🏼♀️
Chris says
Me too 🤦🏻♀️ It’s anoying but iv looked through all my other emails from them and all seem to be around 2pm so hoping it might be the same today lol 😂

I was told last September what I should have got back, had there been any money, I didn’t even ask or at least I don’t remember asking about refund. I sent photo by email of my bank card with 16 digit number obliterated no I.D. was asked for and I received instant confirmation of receipt. However all quiet on western front since.
As I never asked for and therefore never expected anything back the cost of a Morrisons lunch will do me. At 68 I am still unable to retire but am working part time and claiming a basic pension. Still paying all my bills on time including full rent and 25% discounted council tax. However from childrens weddings and holidays i still have bank loans to pay back. Reading some of the posts I think I am one of the lucky ones, though at the time of using wonga I was in despair. I am at the age where I no longer don’t eat so my children can and wonder how I will pay my utility bills or my rent. I sympathise with anyone still requiring help with massive debts who have a good stretch of life ahead. Debt can affect anyone and how galling it can be when we read headlines that state big lottery winners now living off hand outs. Sometimes having money is no safeguard.
Live long and prosper (hopefully live long and at at least see light at the end of the tunnel)
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Beverley – I suggest you go to your local Citizens Advice and ask for help with your finances. You may be better retiring and claiming Pension credit and help with council tax and housing costs and getting help to make affordable debt repayments or possibly some form of insolvency.

That’s plain daft!! Doing mine every 10 minutes lol
