QuickQuid administration is paying 53.5p in the £

Payments – UPDATE – 25 April 2022

Administrators have started sending emails to everyone with an upheld claim telling them what they will be paid.

“The Joint Administrators are now in a position to declare a first and final dividend of 53.5p in the £”

The average claim value is c £1,700. Someone with that claim value will get a payout of about £910.

The payout details are given in the email:

  • This will be paid over the next two weeks.
  • If the administrators couldn’t validate your banking details, it will be sent by cheque. I don’t know how the administrators will “validate” your details.
  • If you used a claims company, the money will be paid to them.
  • Most people are not having any deduction for tax paid to HMRC, so there is no need to reclaim anything.

Credit records

The administrators may decide to :
– remove any negative marks on your credit record
– delete all loans that were upheld
– delete all your loans.

I don’t know what they have chosen to do – if people can check and report in the comments when they see a change, that would be great.

How much your credit score will change will depend on whether there were any negative marks. If you want to get a mortgage, you would like as many payday loans gone as possible, even if they were repaid on time and not hurting your credit score.

In a few months when the administrators no longer talk to the CRAs you can ask for any remaining loans to be “suppressed” so other lenders can’t see them. See https://debtcamel.co.uk/correct-credit-records-lender-administration/ but it is too soon to do that now.

CashEuroNet administrators to pay 53.5p in the £ to QuickQuid and OnStride customers mis-sold unaffordablepayday loans

QuickQuid went into administration in October 2019

CashEuroNet (CEU), which owns the QuickQuid, Pounds To Pocket and On Stride brands, stopped giving loans and went into administration on 25 October 2019.

I will be talking about QuickQuid (QQ) rather than CashEuroNet as it is the more familiar name. Everything here also applies to loans from Cashruronet’s other brands, Pounds To Pocket and On Stride.

Grant Thornton were appointed as Administrators. They set up a page about Redress Complaints – this is their term for people who have asked for a refund because they were given unaffordable loans.

Background to the QuickQuid Administration

QuickQuid was one of the “Big Three” payday lenders in Britain, starting out in 2007.

After Wonga and the Money Shop Group had all stopped lending and gone bust over the last fifteen months, QuickQuid was left as the largest UK payday lender.

QuickQuid had well over a million customers. When it went into administration there were c. 500,000 customers with outstanding loans.

Many of these customers had prolonged borrowing from QQ. They either rolling loans over or repaid one loan but were left so short of money that they had to borrow again.

These customers have good reasons to win an affordability complaint and get a refund of the interest they paid.

Affordability complaints started on a small scale in 2015 and increased in the next few years.

In 2018, complaints going to the Financial Ombudsman (FOS) jumped with the involvement of Claims Companies and QuickQuid became the most complained about firm to FOS, excluding PPI complaints.

For a long time QQ refused to refund interest on any loans taken more than 6 years before or where the loans were given in 2015 or afterwards. This resulted in a huge backlog of claims at the Financial Ombudsman, where QQ had made very poor offers to customers and then rejected an adjudicator decision.

In late July 2019, QQ agreed to accept several thousand FOS complaints it had previously rejected.

By accepting the FOS decisions on loans over 6 years, long chains of borrowing, and loans taken after 2015, the scale of QQ’s likely future liability for refunds will have become clear to the company.

After failing to persuade the FCA that a Scheme of Arrangement was appropriate, Enova, CEU’s large and profitable US parent, decided to close the UK business, blaming the UK regulatory environment.

How could the regulators let this happen?

This is an excellent question… Stella Creasy, MP called for an inquiry into the FCA over Wonga and QuickQuid.

I have looked at the question here: More payday lenders go under in 2019 – was anything learned from Wonga?

What has happened in the administration

Customers with a valid claim for a refund are “unsecured creditors”. This includes:

  • any refunds that were in progress after an amount was agreed or a Final Decision from a FOS Ombudsman (FOS);
  • complaints that were underway at QQ or FOS when QQ went under;
  • any new complaints sent to the Administrators.

All complaints at FOS legally had to stop and were been passed back to the Administrators. It isn’t possible to send any new complaints to FOS.

It is now too late to submit a Claim for unaffordable lending. The last date was 14 February 2021.

The administrators have given the following statistics about claims:

  • 169,000 customers made claims for unaffordable lending;
  • 78,000 claims were upheld by the administrators;
  • the upheld claims had a total value of £136million, so an average of about £1,700 per claim.

Still owe a balance on a QuickQuid or On Stride loan?

More than 300,000 of the current loans were sold to Lantern in summer 2021. You should have been informed if your loan was sold.

The administrators have now stopped collecting any money from the remaining unsold loans.

    Hi Sara,

Like many others I had received an adjudicators decision in my favour but QQ refused this and it was in the queue for an ombudsman to pick up when they went in to administration. I have tried completing the form on the portal but it does not recognise my details. As an adjudicator decision had already been made is it the case I don’t need to do anything further or do I still need to make a claim?

    Thanks

Mine was with the fos and they found in my favour then boom! Into administration they went.
I have had to make a claim through the portal but I had to ring a number as my claim would not go through the portal as I had to verify who I was, did this then I received my email saying my claim had been received. I think everyone regardless of whether you had a decision made before has to make a claim via the portal, if your told to ring a number then do it it’s very quick, just make sure you receive your confirmation email as I’ve had to ring twice.
          Hope this helps.

I had a complaint redress agreed and payment was due two days before they went into administration. Never received the redress.
I have been recognised on the portal for the complaint which is fine but today I get a call from an American woman telling me she is from QQ and requesting I pay my balance.
I told her my complaint was at redress and I am not paying a penny.
    Anyone else had this call?

Sarah, I had a call a week after they went into Administration chasing an outstanding payment. I owed £380 and stopped when the redress was agreed through FOS with QQ.
My complaint with the FOS and QQ was agreed and I missed out on £4,000 after chasing them for over two weeks to pay. When I got the call I told them not to bother me again, as they owed me over £4k and had not paid it and to deduct from that.

I made a claim through a claims company. They were so slow it took them a year to process and then when eventually they were at the end of the process QQ went into administration. Will my claim still be looked at by the administrators or should I start again? This was a year ago. Thank you

Put in a claim now, it’s simple & there is no downside to doing this.

If it is successful, “redress” will be calculated and this will first be used to clear any balance you currently owe them.

It’s not a scam if this was on the QQ claims page. They need to get your correct bank account details. The Adminsitrators are trying to avoid the endless problems with Wonga payouts which were being sent to old, closed bank accounts.

if you call Quick quid customer service line they can update any details to ensure if and when you get any payout it goes through to the right account.Dont hold your breath as I don’t think anybody will be paid out anywhere near what they were expecting. I was offered over £6000 2 weeks before they went into administration and I think I’ll be lucky to get £500 now. patience is a virtue they’ll pay out when they pay out if were lucky……

I’ve just checked my bank and payment hasn’t been taken so I’ve logged into my onstride account and it shows upcoming payment due £0 and due date of N/A has this happened to anyone else? I’m not sure if this is wishful thinking and my claim about irresponsible lending (submitted back in august) is being upheld and there in process of updating system and they’ve offset balance against my current loan

      No, I don’t think so.

The Sunny administrators took the route of analysing everyone’s borrowing so they can do it automatically. QQ is going the opposite way of making people put in claims and only then putting those ones through the Claim Calculator.

Like the below posts, the subject said my claim was accepted, but it gave no actual information as to how many loans I had, etc. I’m beginning to wonder if this is a glitch, maybe. I had issues with the moneyshop portal sending unnecessary blanket emails at one point.

Subject in both is ‘your claim had been assessed and fully accepted’ but then in the email it states none of my loans have been accepted and eligle for redress?? At the bottom of the emails where the list of loans should be it says n/a. Also on one of the emails it goes on to say the open loan I have is still repayable. Very confused. I had loads of loans from both QuickQuid and poundstopocket over a 5 year period but I certainly don’t owe anything and they were paid off years ago. Same with me. I had a FOS ruling in my favour with all the loans ruled as irresponsible and a total redress amount up to 5 figures. The email says that the loan value needed to be greater than 30% of my income and I needed to have loans without a break continuously for a period of 6 months in order to be eligible for redress. Both of these are true in my case. I can appeal within 21 days with a bank statement or wage slip – but these will be impossible to get now so long after the borrowing. The email does look dodgy. It says there is a table of my borrowing at the end – but no table is visible. It also has a strange ending – n/a – immediately after the message. My lending was outside the 6 year time frame so I am now wondering whether they are simply ruling all of these out. I paid £12501 in interest in total. I have an outstanding balance of about £230 but will not be paying that. They can whistle.

I had my claim upheld by the ombudsman but they went in to administration and I had to submit a claim through them. It’s now been rejected with no evidence. I have appealed this decision and asked for evidence.

I have just received two emails with the subject line “Your claim has been assessed and fully accepted” but the email reads:

    “Dear valued customer,

The Joint Administrators have assessed your claim and none of your loan(s) have been accepted as eligible for redress. Your claim has therefore been rejected in full. A full breakdown of your CashEuroNet UK, LLC loan history can be found at the end of this email.”

And there is no breakdown of my loan history at the end of the email… Looks like even the administrators haven’t got a clue what they are doing!!!
Just for the record FOS adjudicator ruled in my favour for 16 loans and awarded about £8000 redress just before QQ went under…

Like others I’m also very angry as my claim was upheld just before they went in to administration by the fos final decision and now the claim has been rejected????

It seems it’s a potential scam as it says it’s from QQ and the email doesn’t match any I’ve been emailed from in the past and QQ aren’t in business. CashEuroNet have sent the administration emails previously so I’m very confused and concerned about the legitimacy of this email. There’s no personal info on it so I have a feeling someone has got hold of the mailing list perhaps and is trying it on?

If that was the case it would explain why they have rejected my entire claim as they would not be able to see the older loans…

    Loan Breakdown
    Please note that you may see a loan(s) showing £0.00 in the interest and fees section in the table below. This means that although the loan has been assessed as unaffordable, our records show that you did not pay any interest or fees to CashEuroNet UK, LLC in relation to this loan(s) and therefore no compensation is due to you for this loan(s). We will still remove all record of this loan(s) from your credit file as part of your accepted redress claim. }
I lost my job just after loan acceptance for a P2P loan £850 (totalling £1606.64 with interest), I defaulted on payments until it was sent to debt collectors (on stride) I’m still paying it from 2015 including the £756.64 but I’ve received the above response. Any help would be great. I have £620 left to pay of £1606

I got the email from QQ that others are referencing, which went into my spam – i believe it is either a scam email or error: Title says i have been accepted, then it says i haven’t been. Then it says i still have a loan (i don’t) – the email came from reply@email.quickquid.co.uk which is CLEARLY not their email address! Other communication i have had has been from CashEuroNet, not QQ – my thoughts are it is a scam and potentially if i email back i’ll be asked for bank details etc to part me from my cash!
Oh, i’m also addressed as valued customer, i’m pretty sure they’d at least use my name if it was from the real QQ!

I thought I should say I have received an email from ‘QuickQuid’ (not Casheuronet) stating all of my loans have been rejected and I have 21 days to appeal. Which panicked me briefly. Then I realised it was sent from a different email address then their previous correspondence. Also it is addressed to Dear Valued Customer. It does not include my name or customer number and says I have 21 days to appeal and need to send supporting evidence such as bank statements, which they already have from my complaint with the Ombudsman’s. I’m pretty sure this is not genuine and thought I should share with everyone. I have emailed the administrators just to get clarification it’s definitely not from them. But please do not send bank details or any other personal documents to the links on this email if you get it. You can contact casheuronet on their claims email which will be on previous communications from them.

I have woken up to an email seemingly from QuickQuid / Cash Euronet. Also, Dear Valued Customer. Telling me that all of my loans have been rejected, even though mine was agreed with FOS and Quickquid prior to Administration (was due payment the week they went into Administration and missed out). The criteria is noted pretty much as the FOS ruled so was baffled! Says the list is at the bottom of the email and it is not.
I have 21 days to appeal.

Oddly the title of the email is “Your claim has been assessed and fully accepted”

Before saying “The Joint Administrators have assessed your claim and none of your loan(s) have been accepted as eligible for redress. Your claim has therefore been rejected in full. A full breakdown of your CashEuroNet UK, LLC loan history can be found at the end of this email.”

There was no breakdown at the bottom of the email.

Notably the email was sent from a different email address than previous correspondence, i.e. a quickquid instead of casheuronet.

It’s interesting as I have looked at the details (source) of a previous email sent by the administrators and the emails from last night and they have the same lines:

    “Return-Path:
    Received: from om-enovaintl-trans.rsys5.com ([199.7.203.64]”

…meaning they were originated from the same IP address! So if last night’s emails are scam than it is a very sofisticated one and looks like most probably a hack…

To be honest, let’s face reality here guys – even if we all get new emails saying our claims have been successful, we’re probably not going to see any money – once again, the only people making money out of this whole shebang are the administrators (who charged around £450 per hour for their services) and possibly the previous directors of QQ/CEU (although I have no proof this is the case) – however, I do know the administrators are charging a small fortune – so once their fees have been deducted and once other preferential creditors are paid, there will likely be nothing to share amongst us.
Obviously for those of us whose credit files need clearing up, at least that is small comfort for potentially not receiving any redress.

    I wish you all well.

Why reply to Jim’s comment in that manner when it’s been clear these emails have been sent out in error. Its also clear that people have received this email despite their claims being upheld by the FOS. With the manner of which this email was sent out with contradicting points there is no way it can be assumed one way or another whether the claim will be upheld or not for anyone who received them.

I’m looking at it from the point of view that it’ll be removed from my file, any money I may receive is just a wee bonus. Yes, it was irresponsible lending, but to be honest, at least on my part, it was irresponsible borrowing, too, so if it strikes the debt off that’s a win as far as I’m concerned.
