Quick overview
Provident’s Scheme of Arrangement is now in the final stages.
The Scheme was proposed because Provident could not afford to carry on paying full refunds to customers winning affordability complaints. The Financial Ombudsman was upholding 75% of complaints against Provident.
The FCA, Provident’s regulator, said it did not approve of the Scheme. But as Provident has stopped providing doorstep loans, the FCA did not object to the Scheme in court.
It started officially on 5 August 2021 after it was approved in court. The deadline for claims was the end of February 2022.
Provident has assessed claims and informed customers of their decision. The large majority of appeals have been held.
Provident is making payments to bank accounts or sending cheques:
- it is paying 4.2557p in the £;
- so if your redress was £1,000, you will receive about £42;
- a final letter will be uploaded to your portal account setting out the payment;
- the first bank payments will be arriving in accounts on Tuesday 5 July.
Here is confirmation from one reader (see the comments below for others):
FUNDS PENDING!!!
Hi all, I’m new to this to thread but just thought I would give an update.
I have a Monzo account, it is showing my Bacs credit as going into my account on Monday, for most people with standard accounts this means you will be be paid Tuesday
I can also confirm it is 4.2557% as stated.
Glad it’s eventually been sorted.
But no-one should assume they will get their payment next week.
They may be going out in batches. And in any mass payment, some of them fail. Do not plan your July finances on the assumption that you will get paid early in the month.
Which loans were covered by the Scheme?
More than 4 million people were given a loan by Provident that comes under the Scheme.
These loans were given between 6 April 2007 and 17 December 2020.
The loans came from four different brands:
- Provident – often called “doorstep loans” or “home credit”;
- Satsuma payday loans;
- Greenwood – another doorstep loan brand that hasn’t been used since 2014;
- Glo – a very small guarantor loan brand.
If you have an affordability complaint about Vanquis or Moneybarn, these complaints are NOT included in the Scheme. You can still make a normal affordability complaint and get a full refund.
The definition of “unaffordable”
A loan is only “affordable” if you could repay it on time and still be able to pay your other debts, bills and living expenses.
You may have paid the loan on time, but it may still have been unaffordable.
If paying Provident left you so short of money you had to borrow more or you got behind with bills then it was “unaffordable”.
If you had several loans without a break between them, then Provident should have realised you were trapped in a cycle of borrowing and that these expensive loans were not affordable. Even a single loan can be unaffordable if it is large.
How much will you be paid?
The next stage is for Provident to divide up the £50 million in the Scheme between the people who have had their complaints upheld.
Customers who made a claim have been told which loans have been upheld and what the total redress for these loans is. You will be paid a percentage of this redress number, not all of it.
When the Scheme was voted on, many people thought they were being told that the payout would be 10%, or 10p in the £. I said at the time that that looked unlikely and it could only have been based on an unusually low number of people making a claim.
For several months Provident has been quoting a range, saying:
Based on the claims that we have received to date, we estimate that the pence in the pound rate of compensation to be paid to each customer will be between 4-6p.
Now it is known that Provident will only be paying 4.2557p in the £.
A final letter will be added to your portal account setting out what you will be paid.
Credit records will be cleaned
In other schemes and Administrations, some people say getting rid of a default was the most important result for them. Not the small cash refund!
For upheld loans, any defaults or missed payments will be removed from your credit record.
This clean up will be done at the end, when they can do everyone’s together. This is very annoying if you want to make a mortgage application, but there is nothing you can do to speed it up.
If your credit record is not cleaned in this process, there will probably be no-one to complain to about this. But there is process for resolving this sort of problem, see Correct credit records by “suppressing” them if the lender has disappeared.
Current loans
Loans that were sold to a debt collector
If your loan was sold to a debt collector, Provident is trying to get this settled. This seems to be taking some time, for example with Lowell saying they haven’t been given the right information from Provident. Several people are complaining about these in the comments below.
Loans that hadn’t been sold were written off in December 2021
In December Provident announced that it was no longer collecting any payments for existing loans:
There is nothing you need to do. You can stop making payments on your outstanding loans owed to PPC and if your payments are taken by the Continuous Payment Authority (CPA), we will stop these for you. Any payments made after 31st December 2021 will be paid back to you.
If you’re in arrears or didn’t pay your loan within the time we agreed when you got your loan, we’ll update your file with our Credit Reference Agency to show the balance as zero and partially settled.
Your credit record is being changed to show that the loan is partially settled or partially satisfied.
If you are a Provident or Satsuma customer, you should have been told about this by email or letter.
That is a pathetic payout
Provident is a successful company with the profitable Vanquis and Moneybarn brands which are still in business. It is a disgrace that the regulator has allowed them to structure their business in a way that has permitted Provident to abandon all its doorstep lending customers and not pay them their proper redress.
If you are feeling mad that Provident has got away with paying you so little, this is the time to look at whether you can make other affordability complaints, not just for loans but for other types of credit.
I have a separate page for each sort, as they need slightly different template letters to complain:
- refunds for large loans, including Moneybarn and other car finance;
- refunds from catalogues and credit cards such as Vanquis;
- refunds from overdrafts
- Morses scheme
- refunds from other doorstep lenders;
- refunds from Lending Stream, Safetynet Credit and other payday lenders.

Anyone else suddenly having problems logging on to portal could log on an hour ago got an email to say bout my outcome, go to log in takes forever to load and then comes up with error
Zara says
Yes I was having problems logging in managed to just log in now I shouldn’t of bothered lol upheld 5 loans £1017.48 only offering me £44 compensation so I think I’m going to appeal
Sara (Debt Camel) says
how many loans did you have?
Zara says
I had 8 loans
Sarah says
How long did it do that for, my scheme id is correct and so is password but it just taking forever to load and comes up with error 🙈
Zara says
Yes mine was like that for a good hour 😩just swipe off it and try again ☺️
Jennifer Done says
9 out of 14 upheld they have paid of the loan I owed of 400 and my comp will be 164-246 and a cheque of 80 for what I paid last year any one had the cheque??
Tim says
Nope when I rang they knew nothing about the cheques but said they would ring me back. I have just rang again as realised if it was sent by post it would go to my old address and now they are not taking phones calls and saying the lines are now closed for good and to contact via website!
Laura says
I’ve just had email saying refund cheques will be sent via post. Compensation will be by separate cheque or BACS (if you provide them with bank details) they aim to have this all sorted by 1st July. I suggest logging on to portal and updating bank / address details
Sarah says
Mine also said i would have cheque for anything i paid after 27th august.. but i thought they actually took it from the comp total is this not the case then cuz i should get cheque for £1061.10… my actual compensation should of been £9134.63 but instead should get £365.58-£548.08
Neal says
Hi all just got this
Good Morning
As you can appreciate there are hundreds of thousands of claims and therefore people are receiving outcomes at different times. Please note, we expect all outcomes to be reached prior to the first week of May
Kind Regards
Tink85 says
Hi,
I have just had an email saying my appeal was not upheld and has now gone to the independent adjudicator. What is the likelihood of the adjudicator going against Provident’s decision?
Also when is it likely provident will stop talking to credit reference agencies?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
There is no track record with the Provident scheme for me to be able to guess what the likelihood is. In the Money Shop scheme quite a few were won on appeal.
Possibly August/September?
sandra hutchman says
I still have not received any outcome… been a customer of theirs for over 25 years
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Just checking, you did submit a claim to the Scheme?
sandra hutchman says
yes and when I log in it says they r working on it.. I did call them and they said they are working on a lot more claims… but could not tell me anything about mine….
grant says

Hello… when you try to log in are you using the 12 digit code you were given to make the claim? Make sure you put the middle line in aswel ? IE 1234-9bjo-6789.

AMC says
Has anyone had any issues with sending medical evidence to provident scheme of arrangement? I had an absolute nightmare, I got asked if I had any medical conditions at time I took out a loan between roughly 2007 and 2010 and I had to obtain my medical records to send as evidence to prove I was suffering with ill health at the time I took out loan and I sent this a few days before the deadline and then get told they did not receive the email with the medical evidence I sent!! Which I still have proof on my phone I did send! I then had to file a complaint which got investigated and was not upheld as apparently they checked all the mail boxes and still could not find my email 🤔 so I obviously wasn’t happy about this so decided to contact the Ombudsman and then get told they do not deal with any complaints under provident scheme of arrangement. So where does this leave people who could be in a similar situation like myself?? I am still not happy about this so I will be looking into any possible way to get this further investigated as it’s absolutely ridiculous!!
Lilly says
I’ve also had an email saying my appeal is going to the adjudicator.
Grant….your log in problems, give them a ring. I had to do this in the beginning because like you I just couldn’t log in no matter what I tried. They were very helpful. In my case it turns out they had me on their database under my middle name, which I am known by and not my first name. It may just be a small detail like that that it stopping you. They just amended their database and I was able to log in after that.
grant says
i have tried all day to phone them, all i get is a pre recorded message and cuts off.
IAN R says
Had email at 10.30 went portal info says getting £230-£330 in compo-and cheque for £30-wasn’t expecting anything but I’ll accept that-just wish having to wait for it-they upheld all my small loans amazing-good luck everybody-Thanks to Sara 😊👍
Sarah says
Has anyone actually recieved a cheque.. been told be in 10days to recieve it and then compo be by 1st july
Tim says
Great,, I think I must have been one of the first people to ring them about ‘the cheque enclosed with this letter’ email and they didn’t know anything about it.
Let’s see if it appears in the post shortly!
Sarah says
I spoke to them in the chat thing and that is what i got told as i was confused about it all, said cheque be sent in the post within 10 days, is it a lie who knows
rachel says
Hi Sarah, can I ask how you chat to them regarding this cheque? Did they say they get sent within 10 days of accepting the claim? As I’m owed a cheque aswell apparently was enclosed in letter but wasn’t there. And can’t get hold of them
Sara (Debt Camel) says
have you had the physical letter about this? or just an email?
Sarah says
I sent a message at the bottom of the page in the redress thingy, i got told that the cheque would be sent in the post within 10 days and then compo by 1st july.. i asked twice and been told the same thing.. im not entirely sure if anyone has recieved one yet.
Diane says
I emailed a few days ago to ask on an update and received this email yesterday.

I’ve still not heard anything back
Larna says
Good Morning Annie and Sarah. I’m still waiting to hear is mine is going to be upheld and compensated . I had 2 loans . £400 defaulted . £300 payed and closed . Also submitted medical evidence. Surprised a week left and still no decision. Could someone estimate how much I’m likely to receive. I was mislead I think when I voted for the scheme . 8 per cent redress . Which would be added each year. I actually thought a full refund would have been given . That’s how it was sold . Hope someone can help . Larna
John Morgan says
Hi Larna you will receive 4-6pence in the pound, not alot
John Morgan says
Them only paying 4-6pence back in the £,so if the claim qas for £7900 I’m only getting few hundred back, again the shafty bankers win, keeping the working man down
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Indeed. Provident has screwed you. Legally. Blame the regulators for allowing the mis-selling to co tinge for so many years and for allowing Provident to structure its companies in such away that it can wash its hand of the money owed to doorstep lending customers and still continue to make profits for its shareholders from its Vanquis and Moneybarn businesses.
John Morgan says
Is there any other means of getting the full value from misselling?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
not from Provident – a Scheme being approved rules out all other options.
John Morgan says
Hi Sara even though I had between 10/12 loans out some overlapping and agent hard selling,my claim should have been for £7211.84,an only receiving 4-6 pence in the pound
Sara (Debt Camel) says
You can’t go to the Ombudsman or to court. Once the Scheme was approved, that is it. There is nowhere else to go.
Blame Provident for this. Decide to never have any to do with its other nicely profitable businesses, Vanquis and Moneybarn, that are charging horrible interest rates.
Blame the FCA for allowing Provident to mis sell for so long, allowing Provident to get away with this Scheme, and failing to provide any backup for customers.
Deanna Reeves says
I’ve had an email today saying they have up held almost £26000 worth of claims and I’m going to get just over £1500!
Sandra says
Hi Sara just had my decision on provident I’m only getting between 546 and 820 back plus a over payment of 500 nevermind better than nothing I say
Linz says
How many loans did you have Sandra
Lisa says
I’ve had an email telling me to expect an email soon and to log into my portal to update my details.
Ive never been able to create my account as it keeps telling me there is an error. Have tried ringing and emailing them with no response! Has anyone else had this? The phone line is a recorded message which then cuts off after saying the claim deadline has passed
Julia says
My 79 yr old mum has received an email from Provident advising her complaint has been upheld and the estimated payment is £484 to £726 on a net claim of £12100. She had 50 loans between 2007 & 2020, 13 of which have been deemed affordable which I don’t have a problem with but could you help with the following queries please?
Aug 19 complaint first sent to Provident
Jan 20 reply received advising claim not upheld as loans were affordable
Feb 20 claim referred to the FOS
Aug 20 FOS requested a copy of business file from Provident. Provident refused stating complaint not referred to the FOS within the 6 months limit.
Nov 20 further request from the FOS requesting copy of file again and stating complaint clearly referred to them within one month. FOS allowed 2 weeks for this.
Aug 21 advised by FOS NFA to be taken due to scheme of arrangement.
Apr 22 provident upheld the claim.
If the complaint is upheld now should the same complaint not have been upheld in Jan 2020 in which case she would have received a full refund?
Also, given the delay in the case being dealt with by the FOS but more so the obvious delaying tactics by Provident in August 20 do you think my mum has grounds for appeal?
Timbo says
Got to admit it is slightly annoying that when I made a complaint about the same loans in 2020 before plans for the scheme were drawn up my complaint was not upheld. Now 6 of my 11 loans apparently have been.
Was the criteria under the scheme different?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Provident often rejected good complaints. It is a shame you did not send your case to the Ombudsman when you got the rejection.
Annie says
I totally agree with you Both provident and FOS rejected mine in 2020 yet scheme have upheld half of them to value of just under £10000 and to expect between £400/£450 It’s hard to get your head round now that provident have came to this decision in 2022 and we can’t do anything about it Not fair that money could have been a blessing to us
Annie says
£370/£556 I was meant to type
Linda says
I’m the same got knocked back by provident for 31 loans , not upheld by adjudicator or Ombudsman in 2017. Letter received from provident upheld all loans compensation would have been over £15000 I’ll get between £600 and £900.
Tanya Palmer says
I still haven’t heard anything looked on my portal and nothing on there should I contact them to find out
Wendyb says
I haven’t either
Jenny says
I phoned provident today and they said all cheques will be sent through the post in 10 days for the over payments and the compensation in July then about 10 minutes ago I also received a email saying the same thing
Annie says
I never got e mail but logged in there and yes my claim was upheld to nearly £10000 but will get between 370/556 I will accept this but don’t know how to put bank details in .The unfortunate thing here is I went to FOS and they agreed with provident all my loans were affordable Why the change of heart now
Annie says
I totally agree with you Both provident and FOS rejected mine in 2020 yet scheme have upheld half of them to value of just under £10000 and to expect between £400/£450 It’s hard to get your head round now that provident have came to this decision in 2022 and we can’t do anything about it Not fair that money could have been a blessing to us
Annie says
I managed to leave bank details Crazy how they decide 3 were unnafordable 4 was affordable 5 was unnafordable Why the 1 inbetween was affordable I don’t know .Another 4 unnafordable and 1 was affordable.
John Morgan says
From the sent the email the other day from STROKES, the email has disappeared, I can’t access any more of it or upload my details, has anyone else experienced this?
Annie says
£370/£556 was offer
Zoe Clark says
Does anyone know if they will be sending the cheques out in 10 days or we will receive them in 10 days please
Sara (Debt Camel) says
I think anyone knows.
SM says
Hi. I appealed regarding unaffordable loans early in 2021, not long before them taking the compensation route. My claim was never agreed, but I was told it would be assessed as part of this scheme. I have heard nothing since and I assumed it was going to be a couple of years until it was sorted, so have not really paid attention.
I was surprised to see that compensation is being paid now. What can I do to find out what is happening with my claim? Just to be clear, they said my claim was being assessed and kept extending the ‘investigation’. Then they announced the scheme and I have had no contact since then.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
I suggest you contact Provident and find out if they have entered a claim in the Scheme for you.
Wendy Baird says
I’ve still heard nothing ,phoned on Monday said up to two weeks, not holding my breath, I’m in northern Ireland probably be last, anyone still not heard?

Hi not received anything about claims, have had loans since the dates still haven’t heard anything, phoned on Monday all I got was if there’s nothing in my portal yet will be up to two weeks, I’m in northern Ireland wonder will we be last? Is there a dead line to enquire, don’t want to miss out on thousands 🤣🤣
Diane says
Hiya, I’m still waiting too, I’m in South Wales. They told me by email last week they’ve still not reviewed my claim and I should hear last week of April which of course is this week. Hope we receive some news soon, good luck.
Nicholas Haynes says
Hi. I still have not heard anything, does this mean I won’t?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
no, you should be told even if your claim has been rejected.
Jennifer Done says
I had a message say I should receive check within the next 2 weeks
Sarah says
That basically is what 10days is as be working days no weekends included… just have to wait and see when it eventually arrives lol.
John Morgan says
Is Northern Ireland maybe considered under a different durationstriction ?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
no
Morag says
Hi. Received a reply that instead of £16000 I will receive between £600 and £900. Its funny when I went to provident and ombudsman many years ago they were affordable and now they aren’t?
Helen says
32 loans in total all upheld as unaffordable , but then I was paying £180 every week so that be why
Total amount of compensation had I gone to the ombudsman would have been 32thousand however under the scheme I will get somewhere between 1250-1800 it says , I’m not appealing I cleared my loans back in 2017 with the help of family and I’ve never looked back luckily I had always paid and never missed ( to the deferment of my family) and I now have a really good credit rating since they have all dropped off however back then in 2007 I couldn’t get mainstream as my rating was 200 took till I was in the 700 area to get a mainstream loan . It’s not worth appealing as they won’t change the amount they only have that pot and all that will be used
Rabby says
Just had message on portal. Upheld 20 out of 27 loans. Instead of £20,000, i should expect between £800 and £1,200. Better than nothing i suppose
Sp. says
Hi Sara, I had 12 loans and 3 not upheld. 2 in 2013 and one in 2014. they were
all taken out 4 months apart. The amount of interest I paid on all loans not upheld, was 1846 + 8% – 9 years of interest.
At the time I had quite a few defaults dating back to 2011. My account with them was opened in 2013. Do you think I should appeal on the basis, that I had numerous amount of defaults on my credit file? Thanks in advance.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
were the three not upheld all at the start? were they smaller?
Sp says
I acutally had 4 not upheld, which included a shopping voucher 253.97 interest in 2013. My first loan was 300 upheld and then my 2nd/3rd/4th/5th not upheld loans were 500 800 309.95 1000. Tks
Sara (Debt Camel) says
unless there were large gaps between the loans – from when you paid one o taking out the next, I think at least the 1000 loan should have been refunded. possibly the 800 as well.
Up to you if you want to appeal to argue those loans were large and provident should have seen you were borrowing more and in trouble.
Sp says
Thank you Sara, I will sleep on it!! I am so glad that we have someone like you to give us advice. Really appreciated. Sp
Julie reay says
Hi is there any news on loans that were sold to lowell.
Is there still a chance theses loans could be refunded

Hi I received an email on Friday 22nd April saying that I would be getting between £200/300 back but it also said there was a cheque enclosed for £910, does that mean they are sending a physical letter out too with the cheque?
Saz Bucks says
Just received notification, I had 17 loans in total across the claim period, all rolling from one into another. All have been tagged as unaffordable. Redress between £750 and £1080. No point dwelling on the figure that it might had been pre scheme. No problem either putting in my bank details. Just happy to put this behind me now.
Nicky says
Hi all
Got redress through upholding 17 loans out of 20 compensation 915 – 1300
Am happy with that hope you all hear soon.
Cj says
So I received another email from provident asking me to login to secure account .it’s saying they still owe me money .which I though was all done .I received just over 16k last year and now it’s saying the amount of loans unaffordable were 14350 and they owe between 500 800 pounds and to fill in another form
Hayley B says
It’s good to see further redress amounts being sent out. I too have had mine, out of 27 loans, 19 deemed as unaffordable. Getting a small percentage of the £12,500 total claim value is a bonus (approx £450 to £750) as I voted no to the scheme.
It’s not worth my further stress to appeal even though the explanation makes little sense the way they have set it out, so I doubt it’s accuracy. Others will no doubt have good grounds and reasons to appeal.
Provident have already won with the assistance of the High Court and the non-intervention of the FCA. Provident succeeded in having a pathetic scheme approved to share out a £50M pot amongst all claimants (the high court knew the scale of the potential claims as the Yes/No vote was weighted on potential claim values).
All of us claimants are now arguing amongst ourselves for a slightly bigger slice of the compensation pie. Provident’s losses are capped at £50M after years of profiteering, You could argue that it’s a small price for them to pay when compared to the £-Billions they’ve made until the game was up. Possibly even pre-meditated based on risk/reward.
A bit like getting fined £100 for stealing a thousand (£).
I will be accepting the redress amount, and now put this behind me in the hope that at the very least it draws peoples attention to those who profit from those that are often desperate.
FCA washed their hands of this matter and failed us all. I sincerely hope someone feels ashamed.
Nicholas Haynes says
Hi I received my redress offer today, £500-£800 give or take. Anyone have any idea on timescale for payment?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
July possibly?
hannah Pearson says
I got email today on 27k of loans all deemed unaffordable will get between £1100-1600 back but can’t put bank details in just spins how do I ask for cheque ?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
You need to contact Provident and ask
Ann says
How long will it take to get my money by bank transfer
Sara (Debt Camel) says
that depends which batch you are being paid in, which no-one knows.
Kim says
I got my email yesterday saying to download the pdf of my redress but the download button don’t work so I have no idea what I’m getting back 🤷♀️ Have asked them to redo it as would be nice to see what they’ve offered. Plus I got married 8yrs ago so need them to change my surname but as they never spelt my previous surname right then whole time I was with them (2007) I’m not holding my breath they’ll do it
Rachel says
I still have not recieved an Email with the redress figures. As there are only a few days left should I ring? They ignored my email last week.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
not until the end of the month.
Sean says
I havent heard anything yet either, 2 more days until the end of the month unless theyre going to say we will hear in May now instead, i just want to know haha

Me either , would love to know if anyone from (NI) has heard yet?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
I don’t think the part of the country has any relevance.

I contacted them about the refund cheque for payments made since August and they’ve told me that a cheque will posted within 10 days of the redress letter being issued. Will have to wait and see if it turns up I guess!
Zoe Clark says
I left a message asking about the refund cheque and they said it will be attempted via bank transfer in due course
Sarah says
Is that what they said cuz seems like it gone from being posted within 10days of letter ie email etc.. to now by bacs. Do they even know what theyre doing lol
Zoe Clark says
Yeah it’s what they said. I’m confused too lol was expecting the same response as everyone else has had. I don’t think they do lol

Hi Sara
I received a CCJ for a Provident Loan I was struggling to repay. With interest & charges this still has a £5k balance outstanding. I am still awaiting a response from Providentt but if they find this one unaffordable,.what will happen to this CCJ ?

I hope this will be removed.

Still not heard anything said claims still under review, I’m in Nottinghamshire
Charlotte says
Is there anyone else who’s still waiting to hear if their claim has been approved and what they will be getting? I’ve heard nothing and looking at the comments I’m wondering if I’m likely to hear or not seen as others have already been informed.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
not everyone has heard yet,
Charlotte says
Okay. Is it worth me contacting them yet or just wait to see if I do.
Sean says
Just double checked on their website and it says all emails and letters should be received with decisions by first week of May, so hopefully by the end of next week we should all know.
David says
Hi Sara I’m had over 16,000 in loans upheld as all unaffordable. Can I now apply for Vanquis credit cards and their payments as unaffordable?
This will give some comfort of the 15,000 + I will lose through Provident little scheming.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
If Vanquis raised your credit limi5 too high, then yes you may be able to get a refund. See https://debtcamel.co.uk/refunds-catalogue-credit-card/ for credit card and catalogue refunds.
Jane says
Hi All, I’ve just seen the outcome on my claim and while my claim has been upheld, 2 of the 5 loans have been deemed affordable. These 2 loans are the highest of loans taken out; is it possible that lesser amounts would be unaffordable but higher amounts ( £600 and £1400 higher) would be affordable?
I’ve submitted appeal but just thought I maybe should have checked here – if appeal is not upheld, is the original redress paid?
Sara (Debt Camel) says
Yes it will be.
Wendyb says
When is the deadline for provident as I’ve still heard nothing and nothing in portal, when should I think about contacting them thanks
Sara (Debt Camel) says
I suggest you wait until next week.
Ian R says
I hope someone posts when they get the cheque we’re supposed to get-if it’s 10 days after redress email like someone suggested it been 9 days since my email/pdf arrived and no cheque or bank transfer-are provident up to there tricks again ??
Richard says
Sara,
My case was looked at by the Independent Adjudicator who upheld all of my Provident and Satsuma loans unaffordable. (Total £14780.29), and that I overpaid by £338.40. This overpayment is being refunded immediately to my bank by BACS, and the figures of £578.11 or £867.17 will be paid into my bank abefore 1st June.
A little more than the 1p I said I would be happy with.
Now I can pay this direct to British Gas.
Catherine says
Did you appeal their original decision and then they sent it off as they agreed with their original findings? Cause I’ve don’t the same thing and they’ve sent it off to the adjudicator and said it could take up to 60 days.
A nn says
When you have accepted It and given them your bank details I do not understand why it’s taking so long to press a button And send you your money When I claimed my ppi from bank when you expected it was in the bank in 3 days
Richard says
Because they have still not decided on the exact percentage being paid (between 4-6%)
Overpayment are being sent immediately by cheque or BACS.
Charlotte says
Oh sorry I’m not referring to QuickQuid I was referring to the provident scheme.
I’ve not been told if my claim has been approved/upheld I’ve not heard anything. Sorry if I’ve confused you.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
no it is my fault, you were quite clear – it’s been a busy couple of days.
I suggest you wait until next week before contacting Provident.
Charlotte says
Thank you! And it’s fine honestly 😊
Richard says
Yes, Provident said some loans out of mainly unaffordable ones were affordable. I appealed and it took 5 working days to get my response.
Provident also failed to mention the overpayment.
adreva says
Interesting that’s a lot quicker then i expected fingers crossed I get a result next week.
Congratulations on winning your appeal and thanks for the info
Richard says
No problems Asreva. I think my supporting information sped up the Review. Good luck yourself – Richard
Kim says
Hi all, provident replied to me yesterday and told me il get between £570 and £860 but have no idea about the 8% interest. I worked out roughly £222 Iv paid over so is that 8% on £222 for every year? Because that works out more than the redress 🤔
Sara (Debt Camel) says
So your total redress figure was about £14-14,500? That includes the 8% interest.
Kim says
That’s right £14396, so why are some people expecting cheques and the rest later on
Sara (Debt Camel) says
People are only being sent cheques if there was previously a problem and they overpaid a loan. This isn’t happening with many people.
Everyone is only going to be paid a small percentage – about 5% of their calculated redress. This is how Schemes work. This is why provident set one up so it didn’t have to pay people like you £14,000 and can get away with paying a few hundred instead. It sucks but there is nothing you can do now about it.
Kim says
Ahhhh ok I understand now thank you
Leanne says
Myself and my partner ended up with ccjs that we are still paying off 1200 each roughly however I believe a lot of this was costs for selling the debt on. Will they look at the total debt including costs as what I owe or just the loan amount.? I will be honest with you I’m not after compensation I would just like the ccj to be removed.
Sara (Debt Camel) says
we don’t know yet exactly what Provident is going to do here.
Jennifer Done says
Has Any one heard yet if they have appealed how long does the appeal take
Adreva says
Appeal went in 14th April , Response on 27th April.
Not seen anyone with a successful appeal yet. I thought I had a strong case against a baffling decision but its been referred to the Independent Scheme Adjudicator who has 60 days to review and issue a final decision and then that’s it.
I think what they are doing is resubmitting the information into the algorithm , which just spits out the same response before handing it off for a independent human review.
